Did your car dealer buddy tell you it had a full PPI before selling it to you? The records just show a service performed. There's no evidence here your buddy screwed you.

I get that. I sold my 2007 Tacoma to get the LC. Taco had 10k more miles, not a drip, torn boot, etc. It’s a 17 year old truck and you took it to a dealership for a PPI -would expect anything less? The service writer is going on a fishing expedition to sell you anything he can at full tilt $$$++.
The previous work performed by EQ may have been quoted for more repairs but limited to whatever the PO approved them to do-
That is what I'm questioning. The guy at EQ is a Toyota M.T., EQ is the shop this dealer uses for services, I think EQ would've done exactly that(quoted more repairs, dealer declined) and that the dealer kept that info from me.The previous work performed by EQ may have been quoted for more repairs but limited to whatever the PO approved them to do-
He didn't tell me it had a full PPI. He told me that it was "cherry" mechanically and the same for the interior. "The paint is bad" was the only downside. In TX, and from a "car guy/friend", to me, that means the clear has been beat to hell from the sun and rock chips. It was an obvious complete respray, that was terrible. The overspray and runs of clear should have been an indicator to anyone that #1 It needs more than a couple panels fixed and #2 the work that has been done is a clear indicator of at least one collision. Well, that and some missing VIN tags on the passenger fender and tailgate.Did your car dealer buddy tell you it had a full PPI before selling it to you? The records just show a service performed. Since this was being sold to me by someone that I've been friends with since before I was even in school, not receiving any pics or more info wasn't a red flag to me.
Nope, he told me the LC was "cherry" mechanically and on the interior. He also said "the only problem is the paint". Probably my mistake, but I thought that meant the clear on the roof/hood/top of front fenders had been beat up by the sun.Did your car dealer buddy tell you it had a full PPI before selling it to you? Nah, no recouping anything.Regardless of if you know someone no pics is a huge red flag for a transaction more than 3 digits imo. I would push back and try to recoup some money if he’s a “friend” he will completely understand why.
If it was cherry he would have be proud to send you engine bay pics with nice new rubber hoses, clean PS and brake reservoirs, pink coolant, etc.
Or he’s a car sales guy and not an auto mechanic and oblivious to 100s.
well, the PPI list is surely exaggerated but it is also unlikely that literally none of that would have been there / visible 5 months prior. The boot in particular looks like it probably would have been cracked already at best.
So, your friend was likely either oblivious, careless or dishonest, neither one being good for a businessman or friend.
You could certainly ask him to do something given his assertion that it was "cherry" mechanically, but I doubt there is much you can do legally beyond that. It would likely have to be a goodwill gesture. If he doesn't do anything, well you'll know how good that friendship / his professional ethics are.
Personally, I'd ask for consideration, be ready to move on either way, and make sure to do due diligence the next time, friend or no friend.
[added: but coming back to your original question about the Tech, well you really don't know if he actually missed any of that or not, there is nothing on that doc telling you either way. You could ask, if you want to bother, but I would not hold my breath, of course.]
Thanks, at the end of the day I just wanted to make sure I wasn't expecting too much. 2min into this vid is what he seems to offer, def not my case.well, the PPI list is surely exaggerated but it is also unlikely that literally none of that would have been there / visible 5 months prior. It is the actual seller, and was a friend for about 40yrs^ Expecting too much? Yes, probably. It's always Caveat Emptor in a business transaction.
I don't know what you mean with this video. Is that your actual Seller? Cuz that's a lot of BS right there.
Not sure. Haven’t been on my laptop in a couple days and hadn’t tried from my phone. If not, no biggie. You can delete a thread but you can't delete a post?
