I have a new appreciation for Arkansas over the last few years, but there's just something about east Tennessee and western/central North Carolina! I think the differences in vegetation adds to it for me.......

And I have to agree with @Papalud, that area up and past Blowing Rock and Boone is some of the best in the smokies......

Yup. Unfortunately, as with so much with our state, lot of those areas just take so long to reach. Linville is prolly 10+ hours away!

I figured I would share this here. 10 years ago I went on my first Road trip in my 1967 FJ45. One of my first stops was in Albuquerque NM where I met Oner @beno He have me this Ol red hat High Desert Cruisers. Ive worn this hat on all 3 of my major trips. 2018 from Calif to Minnesota was no different Thanks Brother

Crazy nice cabin outside Murphy NC for about $200 a night after all the fees and s***. Kids are happy to be in real beds after a month. Upper Ocoee in the morning then back to life.

862 miles Tellurude — OKC yesterday headed home with the new 40. No issues and ran 70 the whole way averaging 15mpg. Stopping in Litlle Rock today to stay with the in laws then back to Bham Monday morning.

Rafted the upper Ocoee. It was fun but after doing the Upper Gaulee nothing seems very big anymore

The Gaulee is awesome. We did the tiny 4 man "high adventure" boat. Understatement of the year. I'm pretty sure we swam thru every rapid except the ones the guide told us would kill us..

Need to make an Ocoee trip soon.
