I found a carry handle mount at Academy. I'll keep my receipt.......

I just got a single point sling mount too. I'll use the sling I bought yesterday on something else.

the single point sling mounts are perfect if you like a swinging gun hitting you in the nuts!

I also use the larue mount on my aimpoint. I use the primary arms budget mount on my budget red dot. The Larue offering is light years ahead in terms of quality. I am also a fan of American Defense mounts, they are a bit cheaper than Larue, but still very awesome.

Explain to me why I would put a $165 red dot on a $157 LaRue base? That seems high for a base for a cheap scope.

You should be able to find a primary arms dot that comes with a mount, mine did. The cheaper mounts are a lot more likely to break, come out of adjustment, or mar your rail. Those would be the reasons why I'd go with a pricier mount... But it's not necessary.

The vortex strikefire II and Sparc come with a mount for about the price of just the larue mount.

I bought the Larue mount for my PA, because I assumed I would one day upgrade to an Aimpoint when my PA kicked the bucket. But, after about 4-5 years now, the PA is still going strong!

Edit: Jeez, those PA prices have really gone up! I think I paid around $75 for mine (but then again, they had just been released).

Played with one today on my friends AR and it felt right.

Looking for suggested sources of full upper assembly for Bushmaster AR-15.... 16 inch HD barrel / flat top, just some nice quality items...nothing full on rambo..with all the crazy stuff. I've got an older bushmaster....looking for something that makes sense in a full upper assembly (including bolt)...or see if should just go buy another entire rifle. 5.56

Am I wrong but is the lower assembly considered the rifle and the part that has to come through a dealer? Can you buy the full upper barrel assemblies and have that shipped to your home without FFL involved?

Lower is the tracked part. Uncle Sam figures no trigger, no bang.

If you like the lower then just pick up and upper. Yes as long as the barrel is 16"+ then you can have any complete upper shipped to your door. Just pick your flavor and click "add to cart"

Bravo Company and Palmetto State Armory come to mind, but honestly your wallet is all that will limit your pick. I tend to go to Bravo Company to look around, mostly because they tend to have lots of different configuration on their site so you can see what different combinations look like. Quad rails, round, different lengths, etc.

There is a great machine shop in Trussville AL that I used for my silencer.

Forgot the name but it is a one stop shop. Get permit and silencer Barrel. Same spot. That's the only way I would fool with replacing the upper

@Elbert ,I would also not worry about getting a bushmaster branded upper per se. All of the uppers are basically forged in the same factories. Also, there are better barrels that what BM sells, not to mention BM filed for bankruptcy and was bought out by Wyndham Weaponry.

ok..I was just noting that what I had was a older bushmaster... and i would be looking for a 16inch flat top full upper in 5.56... (which I did not explain that well)

new uppper does not have to be bushmaster, I'm sure there are others out there that are better, I just don't keep up with that stuff that much.

my rifle is old...its not the first generation but I believe its refered to as an A-One and it has the older plain HD barrel 16inch with carry handle, no flash suppressor.... I probably bought it around 98 or so. SO I might be better off to just buy a new complete rifle of my choice at present time and just sell the older rifle...seems like prices are not too crazy right now?

One more ? for those in the know... technically does one have to be concerned about mixing and matching uppers and lowers....based on when the items were mfg? Did all that stuff change or still apply about weapons made in a certain period could not have a flash suppressor etc...does that "rule" still apply given that you can walk down to wall mart and by a version of the ar15 with short barrel and flash supperssor..etc just wondering if that is technically an issue still, if so I guess the writing is on he wall to buy new if I want something different. Just trying to understand options.

Earlier this week, CDNN had Colt 6920's for less than $800, which is the lowest I have seen them in the last 6+ years...

That being said, if I was just going to buy a factory built upper, I'd probably go with Bravo Company or Daniel Defense. That's your call. Just buying a complete Colt from CDNN won't set you back too much more and will have better resale value.
