I'm a big fan of Beretta autos. I have a 390 that I shot clays with that has thousands of rounds through it and it is still my favorite gun ever.

Ill move him to a 12g as soon as he has the strength but he's still a small guy. I think he's 3-4 years from it.

Honestly, I doubt a 12 gauge beretta is going to kick that much harder than a 11-87 in 20 ga. The youth 20's are so light that they usually pack a decent whallop. My wife did not like shooting a 11-87 youth model. Now whether he can handle the weight of a 12 and an adult length of pull would be the big variable. Some of the Berettas now come with adjustable length of pulls, ie the model 1301 that is likely to be my next shotgun.

12g with 7/8 oz shot will have less recoil but holding it up is the issue.
