Hey All,
Getting ready to do a coolant change on my 88 22re.
Looking at the fsm , it says to drain radiator and petcock on side of engine block.
I was doing a search on threads about it, and did not see anyone mention the engine block
drain.
Good to go only doing the radiator?
The bottom of the radiator is lower than block, so I assume it would be.
Interested to hear opinions.
Thanks!

Personally, I'd look for somewhere low on the engine to drain it. You'd be surprised at where coolant is in the engine block. No reason to mix old and new. Just my 2 cents.

The coolant drain on the block is often plugged up with sludge. I had to pull the drain valve and clean the crud out of the block with a sharp object. I was able to clean up and reuse the drain valve.

Next, search refilling these coolant systems. It's not difficult, but it's not trivial either.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to do this tomorrow, and am going to drain the block.
