Competant Cruiser Shop in Virginia Beach Area

My LX450 is using oil at a rate of greater than 1quart/100 miles..... I am in need of major engine overhaul and don't have the time or resources available to complete.....Looking for reccomendations for a competant cruiser shop in the Virginia Beach area within 100 miles to do the work, have been in touch with the dealer here and was told $125/hour at 20-30 hours plus parts and machine work... Any reccomendations appreciated.

Not sure about VA beach area but these are all well known and in state for you, however west or north of your area.

First, are you sure an engine overhaul is needed? You have the classic symptoms of a bad pcv. It is a 4 dollar part. It may help. Also, you may want to do a little troubleshooting before throwing several thousand dollars at your vehicle. I am happy to take a look at it if you want to swing by--I am near Centerville and Lynnehaven.

My factory motor and trans are sitting at Horsepower Solutions in Newport News, VA. I was going to have them ship it back to AZ. If you determine that you need a replacement motor I might be able to help. If you are interested they could swap the motor and trans out for you. My motor had 150k when it came out and it's a one owner 1995 cruiser from AZ. Motor and trans well taken care of and it runs perfect. I drove it from AZ to VA to do a V8 swap. Let me know if I can help.

Yes it is the original head gasket but there are no issues with it.

Seconding OTTRAM. Ryan is an awesome dude and did a bunch of work on my cruiser for me when I first got it. Really easy to work with, wont BS you and is incredibly communicative during the entire process.

I like Chandler Barton. He was at Cavalier automotive down by the ocean front, but now he's got his own little shop off London Bridge. Honest. Thorough. He's a talented mechanic, and he's not greedy. He's backed up 2-3weeks right now, but it's worth it to have him take a look.
