There was some electrical “modification” I was not keen on under the hood. Some QD points were installed front and back for a winch (I’m on board with this) but the wiring was just an extension of the battery cables and “splicing” done. There were no fuses or disconnects so I decided to remove it and clean up the positive cable a bit. Before and after, and the pile of cable I removed.

I am getting pretty good with these fancy new crimping pliers. Founded where the wire had broken off going to the passenger side horn, added a length on wire and some shrink wrap on the splices. I know it’s not an oem horn, but it is fine for now.

The mailman was good to me today. Got all the parts to my tire carrier, so I slapped it on. Was a very easy install. The hitch area (center) simply bolts in the factory hitch holes and the other mount point requires drilling new 1/2” holes. All hardware included. Installed in about 30 mins. My buddy then came over and helped me lift the top off so I can start the process of rebuilding it. I’m really dreading this part of the project. In the mean time, too less isn’t so bad. Tomorrow I’ll get the ubolt flips done hopefully. Most importantly, I DROVE IT! Cone washer showed up, throw the hubs and wheels on and holy hell. It stops as good as my 1st gen runner. I about went over the hood when I laid on them the first time. So fun to drive now.

I have some OEM and City Racer gaskets here I would like to rotate into the world. Remind me tomorrow I’ll inventory what I have and make you a deal

Today I had a hot rear drum after lots of driving so I pulled it and adjusted the cylinders in a few clicks. Other than that it’s been a dream to drive with the new disk brakes.

After work I did the H4 bulb upgrade with the oem Koito kit PN 81110-60P70. Then I tackled the ubolt flips from 4plus, I only got the front end finished but I’m very impressed with Dave’s products. My process was simple, throw a block of wood on a floor jack and place it right in front of the axle on the leaf spring. Jack it up until the wheel barely leaves the ground. Take a metabo with a 4” cutting disk to the old ubolts and squint.

You're flying on this thing, looks great so far.
I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this rig upon buying it. And I’m pushing to have it ready to have some fun this summer here in the ozarks.

Any progress is good progress right? Found a punch small enough to knock the door hinge pins out, had to pay the windshield down to get the top ones out. Will hunt for hinge bushings online tonight .

I forgot, I also has the driver seat repaired. I know that in the future I’d like to rebuild the seats with new hardware and skins, but for now I just needed to driver seat repaired . It had tears along the sides and a PO covered it in duct tape, which was now just a sticky mess. Pulled the seat and dropped it at a local shop, he charged me 125 bucks to fix the sides and new foam. Not bad.

Rear shims. Never use em.

Are they typically not needed in the rear? Mine came to me with shims in both the front and rear and I do get some vibration during acceleration. I'll pull 'em if it may help matters.

Suspension is as it was when purchased. I will assess and address as needed. I have used shims in the past for driveline vibrations, I assume that’s why they were added to this one.
