I don't remember the fuel prices being that high there, as we drive to the trails we always just stopped at the station in the morning

Thanks Dan. So 30-40 cents a gal. Higher than here but cheaper than WA.

I'm in steve!
I'll be there Oct 11-17. It's only a short 6 hour drive for me.

Sorry but Dan's post number is what? I love irony.

Still trolling for a 4th on Roger's trailer... Last I heard Henry was a week "maybe" at best but also had a couple other potentials.

Looks like we have another victim joining, cool!

So Ted, what're your thoughts about trying to plan the day of wheeling 21Rd around the same time as Andy heads over? Not sure if he's interested or not (he will be if he looks it up [Andy, see link in post #1]), but he'll be driving right past it. The 11th is a Sunday, so depending on if that's Andy's travel day or his arrival day, Sunday or Monday would both be decent days to hit that trail. Monday preferably IMO since I assume there will be significantly less traffic, or maybe even none at all if we're lucky.

I'm good with it assuming my rig goes on your trailer. What is it, 40-50 miles from Moab so it'll eat the entire day but who cares.

Good info... Looks like 21 Road is 107 miles from the campground. Just thinking out loud here but believe it would also be better to hit it earlier than later for any number of reasons. Also, with it being so far from out main campground we'd need to schedule for perhaps traveling out the night before and throwing down a tent just to save 2-3 hrs of daylight.

We have a few issues we need to work out. First is a 4 th truck for the trailer. Second is passenger transportation, Rob is petty sure he is out and Henry will already be in CO.
We could stuff everyone in the IH but back seat is not that comfortable and with only one driver we are going to have to stop and sleep at least one night.

I never paid attention to this thread due to the original start date. I thought it was just an ongoing thread like "TNT summer 2011" in Chat. Do ya'll make this trip every year? I'd be interested in next year. What's the round trip cost driving vs. hauling?

bummer about Rob but it is a commitment. Rocky is pretty set on hauling his own junk as said before so i guess Andy and I need to start thinking about budgeting for 3 rigs on the trailer, not happy about this but we're 90 days away from departure and gotta plan for the worst case. \

Maybe Andy and I can hot swap seats on the ride just mix it up a little, dunno but open for discussion.

No not an every year thing. We've been talking about this for 3 years and this year it's finally coming together, well sorta. Wanna go? We have a spot on Rogers trailer that needs to be filled.

We estimated (if I remember correctly - thanks to a bottle of Jack) the rough cost (based on 4 rigs) for a spot on the trailer was about $1500-$2000 total. This included a share of the diesel, camp site fees and of course your whatever food and other expenses needed. Diesel is something of a flexible # but i think we budgeted for close to $3.50/gal split 3 ways.

With 4 trucks on the trailer and fuel at $3.25 the cost per truck will be about $625.
Is Rocky planning on traveling with us, if so maybe someone could ride with him, although I think he said he was going to drive straight through, I can't do that so we still have the issue of sleeping on trip out.

I am going to be stopping at FT Riley to and from . Depending on my son's deployment dates ( sometime mid/late Oct. ) , that's why I'm hauling , going to see if I can get him to come along . Plus will be dropping wife off to stay with grand kids . We have another issue further out west ( California ) that prevented me from attending the last AOP trail ride . If this turns to the worst I'm not sure what will happen .

That's my plans for today .

Rocky, hope everything is OK, as well. Let me know if you need anything. I'm just up the road now and will be happy to lend a hand if you need anything. I met with Glen on Monday, so I can find your house if you need the mail checked or anything.

I'd love to say I'm in , but I don't want to risk getting my truck somewhere and it clunking out and delaying everyone. It's got some issues that I need to attend to engine wise. It's been trustworthy, but it drinks a lot of oil, as in, I buy it buy the gallon and keep the jug in my dual battery box. (hopefully upper oil pan seal, and not rear main) and valves are loud, and it may be drinking a little coolant too.

Anyone want to budget to buy me a plane ticket from Moab to Chatt-town so I can codrive Lil' Red?
