What are your thoughts about the rebuilt one vs the Saginaw conversion?? Also, what costs difference would that be? I do plan to go to 33's at some point with an additional 2 1/3 - 3" of lift so that may play some bearing but I'm not sure. --Chris

Chris,

Do you still have your smog pump?

Is there a saginaw pump bracket that uses the OEM pump holes in the head? I am not aware of one, but I don't have a 60.

Either pump will have no problem turning 33x10.50s. Are you thinking 12.50s? Does the Saginaw pump and OEM PS gear handle 12.50s better (more pressure or longer lifespan)?

Georg sells a bracket for a 2F that mounts a GM pump

Yea, but Georg's bracket mounts the PS pump where the smog pump is. We gotta find out if his smog pump is still plumbed in.

I love Georg's bracket!

Thanks guys - the truck has been "de-smogged" although there are still a few old smog components that I could still yank out. I'm running the Weber 38 carb so I took most of the smog stuff out already. I got to looking at it a little last night and the leak seems to be in the tube running from the resivoir to the pump?? Not sure if that's common but it's hard to tell cause there is a heat shile around it. I wonder if it's possible that the tube is just leaking?? Maybe just wishful thinking. Man-A-fre sells a bracket as well but I'm not sure how that compares to what Georg has. Mainly because I don't know who Georg is. LOL. thanks for the input. You guys are awesome. I should have joined a long time ago. -- Live and learn huh. --Chris

Most likely a clamp not the tube.

Try a bottle of Lucas Power Steering stop leak first and check the clamps. I sometimes add hose clamps next to the old OEM pinch clamps to help seal.

The tube in question is a metal tube with threaded fittings on each end. I thought about swapping it out to a rubber tube with threaded fittings if I could find one. My weekend plan was to remove the tube and the heat shield and see if there were any noticable cracks and then go from there. Any other suggestions?? --

The MAF bracket mounts the Saginaw pump high on the driver side of the 2F. It requires removal and reinstall of 2 head bolts. The only way I would choose this bracket is if you just had to have your smog pump on the lower driver side. Georg's bracket uses the 3 motor mount bolts and puts the Saginaw pump where the smog pump was originally. I'm not touching the head bolts until I have no choice!

TTT for the Monroe guy.....

OK guys, as long as you don't mind the newbie tagging along, i would love to make the trip, probably even bring the wife.

I have a hunting club just outside of Utica, will probably stay there Friday night then meet you guys.

I've been through Port Gibson and the surrounding area, but am not familiar with it.

Can i get directions on exactly where we will be meeting?

Looking forward to ride!

Wish I could bring my 40 on this ride. I love that part of MS.

Same boat about not having your 40, sux :(

But, I'm looking forward to driving a decked out 80 and camping, hopefully we don't have stormageddon that weekend!

(I suppose, though, that in adverse weather like that, I could do a lot worse for vehicle choice :grinpimp: )
