any of you guys making deals, from shreveport, i may be headed down south next weekend.

Does anyone have an original fj40 front bumper to sell? Did they even have rear bumpers? I am looking to go very retro on the front and rear of my 2010.

Just a warning, a few people have done this before, it doesn't look good. There is too much stuff behind the factory plastic that looks awful being exposed. If you check on FJCF you can see what im talking about.

With that said, post pictures of what you make!

I would have to agree with Layton on this Tim. I can't see how that is going to look good at all. But if you want to give it a try, you can use the bumper from my FJ40 as a test. It's only held on by 6 or 8 bolts......doesn't take long to get it off. As for the rear, there is no stock rear bumper for a 40. It is just 2 bumperettes bolted to the rear sill.

It would look something like this, but replace the OEM crossmember with a FJ40 bumper.

Anyone interested in a toy hauler (no, not mine)?

I was looking at this one but the guy decided to keep it. It's back up for sale. Chris Delancy had offered to check it out for me as he lives in that area. I'm sure he would be willing to do the same for any of us if you are interested.

Thanks for all of the useful input. I agree it would look bad, and the photos prove it. They are really useful. Although I can draw, I am not Chip Fooze....I actually need to put my hands on a design as it develops. I am thinking of some kind of structure like you would purchase, but I need a receiver in the correct location for a winch. I would like to build something around an original bumper.

:)
