Got the chain saw all fixed up...figured with this wind we are going to need it!

I have a warm tingly feeling inside at the thought we could get some good snow:bounce:
The best was the 16+ inches we got in WV a few years ago...general population scared to leave home and that left open roads for drifting and donuts!!!

Lol yes!! my daily driver is a wrx. lots of fun in the snow:D

I didn't get to look at routes, will hopefully do some tomorrow. If we are going up 126 let's meet at La Cueva. If you want to explore off 376, let's all meet at Walatowa. We can probably get higher off 126.

So, do we have a list of people going?

Ali (FZJ80)
Shawn (V8J40)
Onur (FZJ80)
Mike (FZJ80)
Steve (FJ40)
David (FZJ80)
Kent/Brooklynkid (LX450)
eyebmx (FJ40)
Keith and fam. (FZJ80)

Lovey is a maybe at this point.

Anyone else?

Meeting at 8am at the North Portal. Meeting with the rest of the crew coming from the North at the intersection of 126. Looks like we might get some good weather too.

I assume 126...what does the crowd think?

I like the idea of a bit more challenge...

:)

I like 126 also. I don't see much challenge even up there unless they get totally packed Friday night, which isn't out of the question.:D guess I'm bringing the 40.

We all know how forecasts are a week out. I'll give it a few days. By the time the weekend gets here the storm will be predicted to hit on Tuesday. Or, it will fizzle into nothing.

:meh:

Ummm, I'm going with my fizzle forecast. Much less on the radar this morning compared to yesterday.

With people included:

Ali and Fam (FZJ80)
Shawn and Fam and new doggie (V8J40)

It's looking a bit like Jon's fizzle so far. Maybe there will be a blizzard tonight.

The only challenge we might find is snow, otherwise just a bunch of poorly maintained roads.

Did last year's southern contingent take 378, 527, or 315 off of 144? 315 gets the highest, close to 10,000. It's also the longest drive. 378 gets into lots of fir, but is a short loop from 144 to 126 near Seven Springs. 527 isn't as high as 315 and is a loop between 315 and 378 (in length). Could do the same area again. I think it was a pretty long day last year with no troubles to slow the group? I looped 144 around the VCNP and it was after dark getting to Espa even hauling butt as much as we could.
Blue Bird Mesa (FSR 98) gets into some higher country (still less than 9500' IIRC), but potentially some good xmas tree territory. I've never been there, it seems like quite a drive from the Jemez side of 126.

Bales and Miguel canyons (FSR 534, 535) access quite a bit of mixed conifer also, but less than 9500' I believe. Accessed off 376, we would go through Gilman tunnels to get there. I have only been in there a little bit, but it's nice country. Can make a relaxing day in this area.

I'm up for anything, just want to decide whether to meet at 126 or Walatowa. I don't have HT (what the hell does that mean, anyway? :)), so if it isn't decided by this evening on the list, someone call my cell phone before 0830 tomorrow when I'll be out of range

I'll be going too.

I propose we meet at Walatowa only because I will have to stop to top off my tank anyway. Its only a 10-12 gallon tank depending on whether this POS polly tank is collapsed or swelled. I seem to get about 10mpgs in the city and expect about 5 creeping through the trails. But either way works for me, I can stop either way.

also could somebody who is going for sure PM me a cell number just incase. As mentioned before, Ill have a radio but cannot transmit.

6O47868 is my cell #. it's on a sprint network, so terrible coverage. if we are not too far from Abq I should be able to recieve a call.

Why can't you transmit?

If you are worried about licensure, etc., screw it and transmit. Don't worry about that BS stuff for this run.

Let's just meet at Walatowa, people can gas up and we need to get permits anyway for the trees.

Ya, Im testing on 17th. I guess my uncle did a good job in scaring me away from that button with possible consequences. I guess out on the trail its no biggie since my little handheld wont reach out to anyone beyond the convoy anyway. I was more thinking incase I need to reach out in the morning before we meet for any reason. Thank you Bionic

Im still trying to work out some way to come into work late, but incase I cant, what are the chances we will be back to Rio Rancho by 5pm?

it's hit or miss depending on conditions. if it's an easy day we could be back by 5-6. that's usually our earlier time. again, if it's easy, you could cut out early too to be sure and make it on time.
but, there are no guarantees. there have been years we hit pavement after 1am, and left 2 vehicles behind for second day rescue(the people rode out in other vehicles). just depends. we've learned to go into this run with little expectations of anything.

I won't be back on MUD tonight.

See you ABQ folks at the portal at 8am tomorrow.

If anything changes....850-four seven three 0
