It's looking a bit like Jon's fizzle so far. Maybe there will be a blizzard tonight.
The only challenge we might find is snow, otherwise just a bunch of poorly maintained roads.
Did last year's southern contingent take 378, 527, or 315 off of 144? 315 gets the highest, close to 10,000. It's also the longest drive. 378 gets into lots of fir, but is a short loop from 144 to 126 near Seven Springs. 527 isn't as high as 315 and is a loop between 315 and 378 (in length). Could do the same area again. I think it was a pretty long day last year with no troubles to slow the group? I looped 144 around the VCNP and it was after dark getting to Espa even hauling butt as much as we could.
Blue Bird Mesa (FSR 98) gets into some higher country (still less than 9500' IIRC), but potentially some good xmas tree territory. I've never been there, it seems like quite a drive from the Jemez side of 126.
Bales and Miguel canyons (FSR 534, 535) access quite a bit of mixed conifer also, but less than 9500' I believe. Accessed off 376, we would go through Gilman tunnels to get there. I have only been in there a little bit, but it's nice country. Can make a relaxing day in this area.
I'm up for anything, just want to decide whether to meet at 126 or Walatowa. I don't have HT (what the hell does that mean, anyway?

), so if it isn't decided by this evening on the list, someone call my cell phone before 0830 tomorrow when I'll be out of range
