I'm not feeling too bad about it. River with a busted up knee, impressive that he even played the whole game. Gates definitely wasnt 100%. LT played what, 2 downs? All in all, with 3 key players up and running I think we would've converted for at least a couple TD's in place of the field goals.

Whats very surprising is the "other" manning making it to the SB!! haha

You know the more I think about it the more it irks me that LT sat there the whole game and never even took his helmet off. It was like he was hiding behind his visor. Why would he not even take his helmet off?

If he didn't play and we lose the season is over. If he played and aggravated the knee more but we still lost it wouldn't matter, he would still have the off season to get all healed up. There was nothing left to "save himself" for.

I don't recall a star player ever going down in such an important game with so little fight. I know if it were me I would play untill they dragged me off because I was doing more harm than good or they carried my useless carcass off the field. Even then I would be screaming my ass of on the sidelines. :bounce2:

He just sat there. I never even saw him get up and talk to his teammates to try and rally them up or anything. I saw nothing that showed him being a team player tonight, injury or not. I have thought of him as nothing but class untill today. I know that what we see on the broadcast is not the whole story by any stretch of the imagination but now I am really wondering where he stands. :frown:

I hear ya, it seemed odd he was just sitting there. I'd bet he was just bummed that he couldn't do it. Some commentator mentioned after giving it a go he came over to the sideline and told Turner he had no strength in the leg. This only proves to me that AJ should pay what it takes to keep Michael Turner.

Eli in the Super Bowl?

I honestly know what it is like to have an injury and lose out big on something you really want, literally. Not discrediting your point at all, I just don't understand why he couldn't at least mentally and emotionally support his teammates.

The real kicker (no pun intended here) is even when he is hurt, he is still probably better then 1/2 of all other backs!

Very weird, he was the ONE, and only ONE, Charger i liked and wanted to see advance!

Makes it easier to dislike them next year too! :flipoff2:

I'm pretty sure it wasn't LT's decision to stay out. It was weird to see him just sitting on the bench w/ the helmet on. Maybe he was cold? Pissed he couldn't play?

Who knows.

I honestly think we could have used LT in the Red Zone to fake like we were just saving him for those situations. Fake the hand off, all he has to do is run straight and then stop at the line. And hit Vincent Jackson up high in the corner.
He kept the helmet on either because he was crying he couldn't play or because he was embarrassed for not playing because he doesn't want to lose the TV deals he started getting this year.

Oh well... eight more months until training camp opens up. On to college basketball.

There are many valid reasons that he wouldn't be in the game. That I can get by, but why not be there for your team mates on the day you have been waiting for for so long? Thats what still bugs me. I just don't want it to be something that will make me think less of him.

Maybe because he is a sulking little bitch pouting like a 5 year old? :D :D :D

I think we are way over analyzing this situation. The fact that we made it this far after the start of the season with a coaching change and a young QB is amazing.

Rivers showed that he is the leader of this team and as far as LT I can only imagine what was going on in his head. At least he's not running dog fighting rings or breaking down crying in a press conference.

In order to beat a 17-0 team like the Pats we would need to be 110% and we were not even close to that.

Yeah, I am pretty much thinking that sums it up. :meh:

I don't think I could have said it better. :D

Now if you will excuse me I have to go do an ancient Indidan fire dance so the Patriots will go down in a ball of flames.

As it turned out, this Super Bowl lineup would've been my LAST pick.
  1. Chargers v. Giants
  2. Chargers v. Packers
  3. Patriots v. Packers
  4. Patriots v. Giants
I can't believe I'm stuck rooting for Eli & The Giants.

Ah well.

You won't be the only one. ;) :meh:

I talked to my mother in law this morning who is a rabid Charges fan. I asked her about LT being a whining bitch and she flew off the handle.

She lives in Escondido so she hears more than me. She told me that a guy who was at the game said that LT was in fact up and talking to Rivers and crew trying to psyche them up many times. She thinks that CBS is biased and has always tried to show LT in a bad light. FWIW

Have any of you SD guys heard the interviews LT has done and the talk about it on radio etc? We don't get nearly the press up here.

No Kevin I am not dwelling, just curious. :flipoff2:

You know you could be onto something here. They did in my honest opinion portray Rivers in bad light against Denver. They showed Rivers coming out and cheering on his guys and boasting towards Jay Cutler. But in that clip you see Rivers yelling but you can also see the back of Cutlers head moving and can assume he was talking too. But they never showed an angle from the other direction showing Cutlers face when you damn well know they had it.

Ripping LT is short of insane. Questioning the heart of LT? I'm sure feelings were hurt :crybaby: when they lost but, c'mon now: Question about LT Answered......My Apologies LT....

Funny but true: casual fans.... :)

Lots of casual fans ripped him. Even some true fans questioned him, but when you step back and really think about the type of person he is... it's just nuts. Talk to anyone at the game with a good view of the bench and you'll hear different then what most saw on the boobtube.

Well I hope that it is true that he was cheering on his team and game planning with Turner. That makes me feel much better. I still think that he could have played a roll on the field on the first drive in the red zone and I just think he sat on the sideline too easy and without much of a fight.
