well i was finally able to do mpg comparison before and after replacing the VC.
when i bought my vehicle and it hissed at me overtime i opened the gas cap i was getting 10 mpg.
this past weekend i went up to the mans with a full tank with the intent on checking my mpg.
i replied the VC with the auto zone vc 120,the tank doesn't hiss any more and i averaged 12 mpg.
this was running around on first service roads in north gerogia, from camp merrill,80,58,42,28-1 and 77.
pleased with my improvement and it does pull a little better.

Recently a MUD guy vent the line from the tank with a small inline gas filter and removed the canister, VSV valve, and hoses with no codes or problems.:meh:

There is a good chance no matter what you do will have gas odor because the canister needs to vent and sometime the charcoal is not able to handle the amount of vapor in the summer time.

Started smelling gas at the front a couple of weeks back so I did the FSM test on the charcoal canister and it failed. Tried to clean it as per FSM and it also failed :poop:. Popped over to Autozone and and got the VC120. Got it all fitted and moved swiftly to Step 6 . Only problem is that I still have the gas smell. Now :princess: is complaining about it and I can blame her -it's bad. I checked the VCV and it is definitely pulling a vacuum so what gives? It's barely 70f here at the moment.
Is there any reason why couldn't just route the tank pipe directly to the VCV? There must be some way to prevent the smell of gas.

Can't know for sure but I just filled up yesterday and there is no leaks under her. She is currently sat in the garage so would definitely see it if there was a leak. Also smell is only at the front driver's side.

well the definitive test I believe is to fill the tank as far as you can. Then park on an a slight incline ... nose down. If you are on asphalt dont allow any leak to stand on it or it will make a mess.

See post 21. The link still worked for me.
Otherwise, it's the Duralast VC120

Trying to get the part number for Oreilly's. I have a buddy that works there. Im in Hawaii so I would have to order from AutoZone and ship to my house. Trying to get it a bit cheaper. At Oreilly's they don't have the Part: CP1018 anymore at least to listed online.

i picked up the ACDelco 215-153 today. there are 3 port on top. when i took off the oem one off, there is tank and purge port on top and a port on the bottom is that a vent to the outside world?

Yes. The OEM bottom tube/port is the vent and equates to the AC Delco port that comes with the cover tab on it.
