The project car got a fridge as its centre console today. For Australian people this is the Jaycar Brass Monkey Centre Console Fridge. No doubt it comes out of a chinese factory and is sold around the world under a variety of names.

Here's a few photos if anyone else is going to do it. I wasnt sure what direction to take initially and even trashed my first approach.

I ended up using a bit of formply to serve as a base, two nutserts at the front to hold down the formply and I knocked up a 100mm plinth for the rear to set it level. The approach seems to have worked well, comfortable arm rest position and the 1st to 2nd/3rd to 4th gear changes are still comfortable, handbrake unimpeded.

The (fake) leather top and red stitching is a nice match for the leather XR6 seats. The interior is slowly coming together, pity the moulded carpet I ordered is going to be a 4-5 week wait :( Headlining is a bit of an undecided issue as well.

Nice work, what’s the current draw and are you running it on switched power?
12V fitout is still a work in progress.. stay tuned :)

The Brass Monkey website shows a power supply that puts out 6 amps at 14.5 volts. So I would guess something like 7-8amps at 12 volts
SimS

Interesting.. it should cool very well if there's a reasonable level of efficiency. My 35yo Engel uses about the same and its 29L
