Just trying get a workable schedule for the final Dyno runs. Should be worked out in a couple of days.

I pulled the trigger on an EMS mostly because I couldn't even find where to look at the DT, pricing info, etc.

Hope those EMS graphs aren't complete BS!

Thanks for this!

Definitely going to pick up the DTs, EMS catted mids + catback once I find the right LC. :)

RobRed: with as much time as you're spending on dynos, are you also tuning the car once you have the baselines?

I ordered the new Cat's & cat-back system from baktasht today. Looking forward to retiring my rotten old exhaust.

Anybody know approximately what the old cat's might be worth in scrap?

Can't wait to see the results from the dyno test, to confirm that I've made the right choice!

Let me know what you do with your old cats. I have mine sitting around as well wondering where to take them.

If you want to see/hear them before the install let me know. I'm in Brentwood.

If anybody in the US is tossing out good working OE cats, I could use them.

I think I will take my old cats to Empire Metals in NE Calgary. There is also a guy from Kijiji in Southern, AB who I've got an outstanding request with. I will post what they offer me for them, after I swap in the new ones (they are being fabricated soon, so it will be at least a few weeks).

Some guys say they are worth about ~$140, which explains why grease-balls run around stealing them. Nice to see another forum member in Calgary. Are you running Doug Thorley Headers with the EMS Powered Cat's & Cat back?

Let's get an update from Rob!

Wow! This is taking forever. Did I miss it somewhere else?

Calls were taken, threats were made, money changed hands, and now this test has been swept under the rug. Glad I went ahead and ordered last year - just joking of course

Guys Status update... it's a whopper.

First and foremost some of you may have noticed that I haven't been in the forum in the last 4-6 weeks. Job precedence has taken priority, so not much time for LC posting.

I will update again with a more detailed information at the top of the thread, but I'll tell you what's happened in a condensed version.

When I received the DT and EMS systems for testing the timing was December and scheduling for installs and Dyno time was pretty hectic so I looked at getting this done in January.

I use 034 Motorsports in Fremont CA for the dyno.

Test was done on the stock system at the beginning of January.

DT installed. Driven and evaluated. DT then dyno'd mid-late January.

EMS installed and Driven. Dyno time booked... This email comes to my inbox Feb 1:

" It looks like the issues that we were having before were due to one of the major roller bearings about to fail. Unfortunately, that bearing did completely fail last week, and has done some damage to the dyno itself. We are waiting for some new parts to get it back up and running, but It looks like it will be a week or two before we get it up and running. We also have 4 in shop tuning projects lined up to get working on, we are waiting to deliver, once it gets going again, so right now we are a pretty painful situation for dyno work. I do appreciate all of the work you have done here till now, but its going to probably be a couple of week until we have a dyno up and running again."

Didn't hear back from 034..so sent email on March 5 inquiring about the status.

I got a call back from 034 stating that the Dyno failure was more than a bearing and involved the eddy current brake... dyno has to go back to manufacturer (Land and Sea Dyno). Whoa! It would have been all fine because the new Mustang Dyno (ordered in Nov) is supposed to arrive today to replace. Unfortunately the truck carrying the new Mustang was involved in an accident in Nebraska. More delay. I told 034 I was moving on. With their help I sourced another a great shop with a 4wd dyno.

As you likely know I cannot mix the runs from the 034 with the dyno runs with runs from the new unit. All runs have to be done on the same dyno. I have to redo the first two runs.

Where are we today?

New Shop and New Dyno.

Since the EMS was on the truck already (waiting for that last run at 034) I started with that system... we dyno'd and got nice results. I uninstalled the EMS and reinstalled the DT. Today I dyno'd the DT and got some nice results. This weekend I will be swapping back to the stock system and plan to dyno on Wednesday.

I know I'm killing you guys with this....

--------------------------------------------------

I'm going to give you some results right now.... Keep in mind this is incomplete:

Based on the 034 dyno runs the DT makes more power than stock - I'm not going to put a number on it because we will use the new Superflow numbers to compare next week.

I can tell you... on the new Superflow Dyno the EMS makes more power than than the DT... roughly 8-10 whp more across most of the rev range.

--------------------------------------------------

Like I did for the DT headers I will be providing charts and data. Additionally I will be giving my impressions of each system with images, sound clips and video.

I know this has been a long road but the end is in sight.

Rob, you rock! Your time / thoroughness is appreciated man!

Do you reset the ECU between dynos? I've just noticed a huge difference resetting.... I'm hoping my gas mileage goes up from 6.
