Now that I have two kids and two dogs I'm very interested in obtaining a cargo/pet barrier for my '04 LX to keep them separated. The biggest issue I'm running into is that fact that unlike the older 100s and 80s for that matter I have rear curtain airbags and A/C.

I have done a an extensive search on this topic and have provided the most relevant links that I could find below.

Ideally I would like the Milford Barrier. Most of the threads on this subject are 5-6 years old. According to the Milford website, they don't even list the U.S. as an option for distribution. I don't think this is an option without a ton of effort to obtain.

MILFORD INSTALL THREAD

http://www.midwestlandcruiser.com - These guys have one listed for sale. I have emailed to see what the availability is.

http://www.4by4connection.com/micaba100sel.html - These guys also have one listed for sale but does not specify what year it is for.

Another option is the SPESKI Barrier, which would be perfect. However, due to liability reasons I don't think he can make one that would be compatible with the curtain airbags.

The eaisest option appears to be a Raingler net. They have one listed for the 80-Series. Has anyone ordered one of these? Email sent inquiring about 100-Series.

Any other ideas? TIA.

I would search google.au for a solution out of Australia as the market is much stronger there for this type of product. Milford and others have the resources to work with side impact equipped vehicles. It's going to cost you but what is the price of your and your family's safety?

I wish I had the means to make you something but I simply don't and can't afford to run the risk of guessing. When the day comes that I have to retire my 80 in the favor of a 100 or 200 I will have a Milford shipped over. Just my .02

FYI there is a Milford on eBay right now listed for 02-07 Land Cruiser. I'd link it for you but I not that good with my phone.

Corbet,

Thanks for the advice. I'm still in the process of researching.

Raingler says that the 80-series net will work. I'm probably going to try one out until I can figure out what the deal is with the Milford barriers. I prefer to have something in place rather than nothing...

If you draw a line between the L & R grab handles, there will still be quite a gap between the nylon webbing and the ceiling. To use the webbing type barrier, I think it would be best to build an upper bar/frame that follows the roofline and give the webbing something to fasten to.

That's was the one issue I gathered from the older threads as well.

Once I get the net, I'll get it setup and see what I can do.

It doesn't appear many people have gone this route.

ChuckB- please keep us posted. I am in the same boat. I would much prefer a solid barrier, bit the net may have to suffice for now. I'd think about making one myself, but I wouldn't know where to start to find the airbags "inflated" configuration to work around. Those babies have a heckuva lot of force...

Shane? I'm sure you could whip up a drawing in a lazy afternoon....!

I have been busy, but still planning on ordering the net for now.

Somewhere I have seen a factory picture of the interior with the airbags inflated, I'll see if I can find it.

It sucks getting older. It's tough pulling 36-40 day.

Ya that would work really well with the side curtain airbags I bet.

Do I detect a little bit of sarcasm... ;)

There is a company called Brisbane Tray Bodies that makes some side airbag compatible roll cages for the 150, I can't tell from their website if they make any for the 100. http://www.brisbanetraybodys.com.au/btb-products.html?start=9

When I worked in Azerbaijan, all the BP 100 series had internal roll cages that were much less intrusive than the Safety Devices one I linked. I don't remember them having the cross bars coming down behind the front row seats. So there are probably other companies that make roll cages for the 100 too.

Of course this is all off topic as my earlier post was being silly.

On the Milford, these guys have the option listed for overseas shipping:

They show multiple options for the 100 series, and the one I linked is for the "100 Series Sahara". I'm not sure if that came with side airbags or not, but does say it is compatible with dual air conditioning.

They also have a roll cage:

Not cheap though

You may want to check with a company called Ausguard http://www.ausguard.com.au/mesh1.html

They don't have much info on their website, but I know they make barriers for the 100 because they are featured at http://www.offroadsystems.com.au/docs/Landcruiser 100 series P&O.pdf

Here is another one that specifies it works for dual air conditioning but doesn't mention the side airbags. Question, did any of the Australian spec 100 series come with side air bags?

There is also a company called "Outback Cargo Barrier". They make some for the 100 series, but I didn't have any luck finding details with a google search. Here is a link from Devon4x4 who sells them from the UK. I ordered a lot of gear for my Defender 110 from Devon 4x4 and they were happy to ship it to me in Dubai, so I would guess they would ship to the US too.

And yes I realize those pics are generic :)
