Thought I'd post some pics of my "custom" mount. Had to customize the bends of the upper arms and used the existing holes/bolts for the rear grab handles. Still solid as a rock. Anyway, it's really the second row seat uprights that will give support to the cage in a sudden stop or roll-over.

i like the emergency exit window punch, haha.

where are the mounts supposed to go before you modded them to work with the cargo area grab handles?

Thanks for sharing, I have been wanting to get a Milford cargo barrier. How much room is there for the second row seats to recline (what % of the reclining room is available)? In addition, where did you purchase it? Slee has been saying the Milford barriers are not available for import right now.

Great Milford install pics. But I am drooling over the seat covers, they are?

1loudlx - The original mounting points are between the two mounting points for the grab handle. I just didn't feel like drilling the sheetmetal that close to the roof skin. Even with a step bit, I didn't trust myself... ;)

Tom B - The way I mounted it, there is no more room for the seats to recline, which was not a concern for me due to the child seat. You could mount the top mounts further back to tip the top portion back, but that would take up valuable cargo space. I bought it a couple years ago from MAF. It's the Sahara version (for later trucks with rear A/C, called the "Land Cruiser Sahara" in Australia). After I bought it, I actually put it up here for sale since I have the side curtain airbags, but had no takers, so I decided to mount it anyway. In studying the deployment pattern of the curtain airbags, it would only interfere with the rearmost guide sleeve if at all, not really a concern for me due to who I carry back there most often!

GRunner - Those are Wet Okole covers. I'd wanted them for years, but refused to pay their retail asking price. Then I found these for sale by a MUD member. They were gray (we obviously have the tan interior), but the price was so good I couldn't say no (I paid $175 for the set of two rows, they retail for about $750 including the custom "Land Cruiser" script on the front seat backs that the PO had ordered them with). They are made of a neoprene/nylon laminate that is 100% waterproof and they fit like a glove. Absolutely the best covers available IMHO. And they have already paid for themselves in leather restoration costs due to damage from spilled food, drinks, etc. by the little one!

I know, I bought my '03 used and I think I need to clean up the leather already. $175? I could only keep drooling... But I really don't understand WHY it is so expensive! I am going to Malaysia this CNY maybe I could source something similar and bring it back.

Thanks for the prompt reply, dclee. I would love a chance to check out your MOGs.

I put some more info and pics in a separate thread:

And the Mogs are both in Vacaville at my buddy's shop. Maybe we can get together sometime over there.
