Hey everyone! We have a 1985 FJ60, not in great condition but when it starts it runs very well. Every time we turn it off, it has a very hard time starting if it starts at all. It seems as if the carb is not getting gas (or enough gas) in order for the engine to fire. We recently replaced the accelerator pump in the carb to try and solve the problem, but the carb still wasn't getting enough gas... ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!! We cannot figure out what it could be or why it isn't getting enough gas to fire back up after the engine has been shut off. Thank you in advance for your input!

If the engine is hot, don't pump the pedal, don't pull the choke. Just press the gas pedal down about 3/4 of the way and crank the starter until it catches. It should fire up pretty quickly. If the carburetor/manifold fan isn't working, hot starts can be hard

Electrical issue? Fuel cut solenoid clicking? Are you getting fuel squirting down the venturi in the carb? Remove the air cleaner and with the truck off, work the linkage at the back of the carb and look down inside.

Was going to ask the same question. From there, is there fuel in the filter? When was the last time the filter was changed? Any sediment in the filter when removed? How about charcoal canister? Do you get the whoosh noise after driving and you open the tank to put in fuel?
