Does anyone have experience removing the carb heat shield from the intake manifold...it looks like the insulator block is glued to the manifold

The block is connected to the heat shield but should come free from the manifold. You'll have to get creative depending on if you're going to keep the old one and don't want to damage or get a new one.

Chisel and hammer or a big flat head screwdriver would get in there with some persuasion

yours looks like it might have some extra crap in there acting as an adhesive.

Plus the 2 bolts that hold the shield to the manifold are still in place.

thanks everyone !!!! I ended up pulling the manifold carb studs out and it popped right off.
