I have a 93 ... same same ... that's something aftermarket. Alarm maybe?

I guess it could be.. it has a switch on it
It kinda looks like an old style motion detector. Have you traced the wires?

That is not factory. I had a box like that in my '92 4Runner, it was an anti-theft device, starter disable. Mine was tied into the turn signal, I had to flip the stalk to flash the left blinker to get the truck to start. Sounds like a pain but after awhile it just became automatic. There was a switch on it like that that I could disable the feature, for things like valet parking. Maybe yours is turned off?

Oh ok thanks for the info. It's not wired up to the starter anymore
