You could drive and tan at the same time on a nice sunny day. Who needs the tanning salon. Get real color and not orange.

Hmmm I could run a mobile tanning salon in waikiki...

so where is the order form? hehe

So when you cut that much of the roof off isn't the structure of the roof somewhat compromised? Do you need to add a full cage now?

Somewhat yes. There's no way around that. The original supports are/were very thin as well as the roof being paper thin. The pop top structure is all 1/8 aluminum and is very stout. Jumping jacks on the roof is no longer a problem. As the designer I have taken it to the max for roof removal and have been giving the truck an extra healthy dose of twisting to look for any places that can be improved. A simple large sunroof over the back where there have never been supports would be the safe route for standup room inside. I did that for a bit. A full roll cage would be made a lot easier to install with the top removed. I have been thinking about something along those lines. The top is very easy to install and you could leave it at camp if you wanted to go topless for the day.

But altering the roof is not necessary to mount it, correct? And provided the roof isn't cut out, the roof doesn't interfere with the floor of the tent?
I don't want to cut the roof out of my truck, but I like this option for RTT.

That is correct. It can be used as a roof tent, you can also climb through the sunroof to get in. All without any cutting. This is the essence of the design. The only thing that needs to be altered from factory is the removal of the rack

How is it sealed to the roof? Is it a gasket or something like that? How is it for wind noise when closed and travelling down the hwy? With out removing any of the roof is it still possible to fit and store bedding up there?

Edit one last thing. Is the roof insulated some how?

An idea that I had for these types of pop ups...

Make a 2nd 'pop up' that comes up in the other direction from inside the first one to yield a flat hard top and huge interior space back & front.

I'm already within 2" of not fitting in my garage though - so I'm not a likely customer for this. Still - great idea! I'd never considered simply removing the roof.

Subscribed, looks terrific.

There is a thread going on over on expo. It seems like a great unit and the first one has already
Sold. They seem to carry a very hefty price tag with them ( rumored at 6k ) so I think that takes it off a lot of people's radar. At least for me it does. That's more than I paid for my 80!

That price tag doesn't sound too ridiculous, as my rack was about $500, and once the RTT was at my door with tax and delivery etc was about $3800 IIRC....I would think it could be quieter than my setup, even though my rack is mounted as close to the roof as possible.

Show off.....

Love your bumper, Gord!

I also saw the top at CM12 and thought it was cool although not for me, w/o knowing the price tag at that point, either.

But it would be nice to have a lower COG instead of having to mount a rather bulky RTT on crossbars.
