realistically, I think that getting in the tent through the sunroof would be somewhat impractical, but the possibility of doing so in a downpour would be very appealing. Now to make it possible to open the tent from the inside too... :)

would be nice to have windows on both sides too for more ventilation.

I particularly like the low shape.

One drawback seems to be that it's likely harder to install and remove than a regular RTT, so unlikely to be able to use your roof rack again very readily.

Now you say something!! I just bought a rack and roof tent. Thats a great design!

Love it, only if it was just me and the wife.

Will I be able to drive the cruiser while inside the tent?

YES! but visibility is tough. Ah, nope that's pushing it.
Thanks for a good tag that now needs to be made for inside the tent.

:Caution:
It is not advised to operate
your vehicle while in your tent.

I have driven around with it open though

I will be testing for load strength very soon. I think I will weigh out 200+ Lbs of wood and go bump around.
The unit is the same as mounting your rack. Maybe easier but slightly heavier

The windows in the back make it very easy to open from inside. I am still waiting on the final hardware.
I think a large removable sunroof in the back will be the way to get the most out of the 80 as it sits and then have the camper option 8 bolts away

German version?

Can't wait to see it at Overland Expo! If you need a product quality tester in CO who can make comparisons to a Syncro Westy you mention in your initial post, I'm your guy.

Wonder if there is room to duct heat for winter camping?

I don't have an 80, but that is crazy cool... Nice work!

THAT'S some sunroof!

You could drive and tan at the same time on a nice sunny day. Who needs the tanning salon. Get real color and not orange.

I've been getting a bit red this early in the season. I can't wait to throw on some yakima cross bars and pile on the boards:D
