What would you pay for a 2006 LC 100 with 68k miles on it, excellent condition? They are asking 30k. :o

Timing is everything. I paid a little north of that number last October for my one-owner '06 with full service records and 78k miles ... 30 might be a bit high now, but it will all be location specific.

Where is the truck located?

Well, that one sold the day after I asked. There is a 2006 LX470 with 98k miles for sale, nearly fully loaded (more so than the previous LC I was looking at) / excellent condition as far as I can tell. They are asking 32.9k which seems high. What would be a good price to get them down to? 30K?

Also, how do I test the AHC system?

$32.9 is probably in line for an asking price. As a point of reference, I did a quick search local to me and the dealer in Greensboro, NC has a Certified Pre Owned 2007 with 68K miles of $35.7K ... and (amazingly for an '07) it does not have AHC. If you can get them to $29 - 30K, it is probably an OK deal.

LX470 questions

I'm looking for a new family SUV and have narrowed it down to the LX470 (06+) and Sequoia (probably 08). Few questions:

  1. The LX470 seems to be much higher quality overall. Would a 08 Sequoia with 58k miles and a LX470 with 97k (timing belt done) be equally reliable more or less, assuming all maintenance records etc? I know that the LX is more complicated and has more parts that can fail (AHC, steering column, etc).
  2. From what I'm reading the newer LX470s come with side curtain airbags. Does that extend to the third row? I have three kids, all three and under, so safety is pretty important.
  3. What can you fit behind the third row of the LX? It LOOKS like I could possibly fit an ice chest/big stroller behind the third row of the Sequoia, but that seems out of the question with the LX.

I'm leaning towards the Sequoia in terms of safety and practicality, but after driving a LC I can't shake my want for one. :frown:

Not sure if this helps, but I've got 2 kids under 2.5 and find the size of LX to be great WITHOUT the third row seats. If I needed to keep the third row I don't think there'd be enough space for the big family trips with all the family gear. Of course everyone travels differently - you could put luggage on the roof or in tow and you can pack less, and maybe you're not doing road trips with lots of luggage.

3rd row in the LC/LX is tight and the cargo area with it in is really tight. Pack using soft sided luggage only. :D This is where the Sequoia shines is the extra capacity. We have a Sequoia and an LX and without a doubt the LX is more solid, BUT the Sequoia is still VERY good.

You have a tough decision to make. We decided to add another LC/LX to the stable but when we started shopping the extra space of the Sequoia coupled with the cheaper cost of entry tipped the scales in it's favor. Much easier to find a deal on a clean used Tree than a LC/LX.

That being said if I was forced to pick one then someone would have to pry my 100 from my cold dead hands. :steer:

Dirtyrunner,

Decide what you want to use it for. If you only need it for a family hauler, get the Sequoia and call it done. If you have any aspirations at all of off-roading now or in the future, you must get the LC or LX. Flat out the Sequoia will not work for anything other than fire road trails.
Yes you can fit a folded stroller (if it's not a massive double or triple stroller) and one of those soft coolers behind the third seat of a LC. But with three kids, you can use the entire middle seat and one third row seat, fold up the other half third row seat and still have tons of room for gear.

LC, all the way. You can always buy those racks that go into the tow hitch from pep boys for around $100. Bungee/Strap on all your gear on there! LC is just such a comfortable and safe ride.

You can fit 3 carseats across the 2nd row if you use carseats like the Diono ones.

Thanks for the suggestions. Heading out tomorrow morning to look at a few and possibly buy one. The hitch cargo basket is a great idea, forgot about those for ice chests, etc.

$16K?

So this weekend I looked at an 06 LX470 and a 2010 Sequoia Limited. The Sequoia interior feels so damn cheap compared to the LX, I really don't think I can bring myself to buy one after comparing them. I loved the power and room in the Sequoia, but the quality just seems vastly different. Looks like it will be the LX, now just to find one in really good shape (the one I saw was not).

Just got mine 2 weeks ago with 140k miles, first owner, all maintenance update at Lexus dealer.
Didn't come with extra rims, but got 3 sets of carpet for different season. :-)
Plus it got Mark Levinson option.
I got it for $12k by the way.
Good luck.

Looking at an 07 LX470 with 70k miles, for about 37k (before haggling). Here are the service records from Lexus, any red flags jump out?

Wanted to get a quick opinion from the forum.

I have a 06 Land Cruiser with just under 42k miles. DD for a 10 minute commute. Has Nav and dual DVD's in the headrests. May be looking to sell it in the next few months. Bought new and lived in San Antonio TX for duration of ownership. (What else am I missing) Silver with grey interior.

Anybody care to ballpark what a fair asking price would be? KBB says $32-$36.5 from fair to very good condition. All routine maintenance done at local Toyota dealership.

Thanks for the help.
