Buying a 1994 LC, its out of state so I can't physically look at the dash, to check for lockers.

I'm buying my third LC next week. I've owned a 1992 and a 1997. Loved the 92 hated the 97. The one that I'm looking into now is a 1994. It's in great shape and fully loaded. The only real problem I guess, is that I don't know if it has lockers on it. I can't really see the dash very well in the photos. I'm also afraid that if I ask the owner, he may increase the price, as we haven't shaken hands on the price yet. It's about 800 miles away, so I can't just drop by to take a look for myself.
Is there a way to verify if it has lockers with the vin number or any other way that I haven't thought of?
Any help would be much appreciated! I'm due to travel up to get it on Tuesday 08NOV16. So, Please all of my Land Cruiser Friends out there, I NEED YOUR HELP DESPERATELY!
Thanks,
MUDDER92

If it is close to Orlando I can probably pop round and check it out for you..

Yes, give me a few minutes and I'll send you what I've got. Thanks.

Have them take a picture of the vin sticker on the door. If you see the K294 code on the sticker it has factory lockers. If you see K292 it doesn't.

No lockers for you sir.

Get a Harrop locker. A few hundred bucks and a day wrenching.

1st pic shows what you need to see, looks like the dash blank where the switch would go has a red switch mounted in it, so no lockers.

I think @george_tlc is a Harrop distributor. And he knows more than just about anyone in the world.

How are the Harrop, ELOCKERS. Are they a one man job, any special tools needed. and what do you think it will run me to install myself.
At terraintamer.com they gave me the part names and number for: 80 Series ELOCKERS A9334 , front bearing kit TTEL02 AND THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL KIT A9334-2TT
REAR ELOCKERS A9378:
RR BEARING KIT TTEL03
RR differential kit: A9378-3TT

Never done it myself. I think @NLXTACY has. Or he will know who has.

The terrain tamer guys are good guys too from what I hear. Maybe Joey (aka nlxtacy) can give some insight.

Wrong george :)

cheers,

May as well order yourself that fuse box door, too. :hillbilly:

Sorry @george_tlc. I meant @orangefj45

But maybe I'm completely off base...

Thanks for the interest and comments/questions, gents. See below.

Georg knows a great deal about many things.

One man job if it is the right man.... :)
Pulling the axles/carriers and reinstalling with wiring well within skills of many DIY guys. Gear/locker install and setting up the carriers maybe not so much, but not rocket science. Install instructions can be seen here

Those are the correct p/ns for an FZJ 80 with full float rear axle. The A9378 will not fit the semi-floats on the FJs. We have the Harrops and install kits in stock. See self-serving promotional stuff here - www.yotalockers.com - our spiffy new website created through the good efforts of Jeff Old (AKA @jebber ). Any sales through that site end up with the retail credit going to one of our installing shops/resellers as listed here. The lists of installers/resellers is a little dated - more have been added but not yet listed. New shop partners always welcome.

Georg is very good guy, knows his stuff. We both have/had Harrops in our rigs. Georg has one in front of his 100 and I had 'em front/rear in my BJ73 but Tor Slinning (@torfab ) adopbed the truck. I am waiting on a new model of Harrop for the back of my Tacoma so I will be properly attired in the next month or so.

Wrong george :)
Correct Georg is:
@orangefj45 or
georg@cruiserbrothers.com

Thanks @wardharris for clearing things up.

What the hell though?! A Taco?!?! For all that is holy!! :bang::p

Yeah, well, my wife had other ideas. She said I could have a diesel if I got rid of the Corvette.

Also, the FJ75 ute is going to Stockton as a shop truck, so I needed something to haul parts and trash.

Thanks for the compliments and referrals guys. Yes I run a Harrop in the front if my 100 which I installed. And we've installed a few more Harrop lockers. So far we have had only positive feedback and we just shipped about a dozen more out last week.
Thanks for the ongoing support!!

And to the OP: feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need parts. I'll be happy to help.

Your wife is smart! This seems like a no brainer to me. Ditch the plastic! Replace the Corvette with something cool!
