on my FJ60 I have the OME Heavy/heavy suspension lift which I think is about 3-4 inches, I also have a 2 inch body lift. I decided to make my 60 a little more street friendly and bought some Toyo AT tires in lieu of the mud tires (in the same size). When did that I also went back to FJ60 stock front brake calipers and some different wheels. So I left the tires in the pics mounted on the FJ cruiser wheels. I've been working on the 60 here and there and the mud tires are in storage and I'm process of getting rid of things in storage that I'm not using. I like the mud tires from Toyo and would buy another set tomorrow, but I've been hoarding too much and the tires need to go on to someone that can use them. I've got too many projects in the fire overall. On top of all that...I moved all my "crap" to another storage location and trying to simplify things overall...where I have some clue as to what is where. Tires are easy to spot...everything else is the problem.
Gotcha, thanks for the info. So, did you have to run different brake calipers to run those FJ cruiser wheels? Basically what I’m after is will those wheels work for an FJ60 without modification? I figured you probabaly have to run wheel spacers since the FJ cruiser wheels have more backspacing than stock 60 wheels.

I had the 4runner calipers on the front and while I've not tested my theory...it appears to me that the 4runner caliper is just a little thicker than the stock FJ60 front caliper...which causes issue with wheel fit. No...I had the 4 runner calipers for some time and had them before I had the cruiser wheels...I forgot the other wheels I had (what brand they were...) anyway back a few iterations ago I had some other black aftermarket steel wheels and BFG mud tires and I bought spacers for that setup and kept them for a while. I can't tell you for sure at this point in time (I know I posted up in one of the threads some time ago about wheels and fit (there is lot of wrong info floating around). I think the fj cruiser wheels fit fine on the front and you might need a small spacer on the rear (not for the wheel but for the tire scrub in the inner fender well.

Its been a while and so I'm not sure. You are welcome to test fit the wheel to see if you want to sometime. I don't want to say firmly that they fit because I don't recall exactly. I left the spacers on until recenlty when I changed wheels and tires to the AT. If my memory serves as I noted above I had some tire scrub on the rear with fj cruiser wheels and the tires mentioned above...since I had the spacers on hand I put them back on (at the time) to move the tire/wheel away from the inside fender well (was not real bad but since I had the spacers I used them)...so then I put the spacers back on the front just for looks as I wanted things to be equally spaced (front to rear track). Under full axle drop on one side the opposite side tire would come up in the fender well and scrub (where this was normal or not) I just re-installed the spacers to help address the issue.

the drive for the new wheels was to get away from spacers just because (I never had any issues with the spidertrax spacers and they worked fine, just my personal preference. SO I just made a clean jump to new wheels and new AT tires as mentioned. And when did that I noted the new wheels with teh AT tires...did rub slightly on the front caliper...so back to FJ60 calipers. I do plan to do some extended road trips with the 60 at some point so I've been looking to avoid custom setup where possible... first thing I looked at was the wheel spacers/etc... Hope this helps, I think you'll find a few people running the fj cruiser black steel wheel or a similar one thats the spare on one of the pickups...as I recall some are 16inch and some are 17inch.

wheel spacers required for the rock crawler wheels I had previously with the BFG MT, I think that was the brand. moving forward...wheel spacers not needed on front or rear fJ cruiser wheels as I recall (for hte wheels) but do get some tire scrub on inner fender wheel at full axle tiltle "Off camber" @ rear axle. WHen I then changed to the wheels I have now I found out the wheels rub the caliper so I went back to FJ60 caliper as I already paid for the wheels and no turning back. Hope this make sense and answers your questions.

as I noted above...I'm not sure if these are OEM on the 60 or not, i've had these a long time.

Got it, thanks Elbert. Let me think about it and I'll get back to you. If you have someone who wants them in the meantime, don't worry about saving them for me. We're in the middle of moving and have a lot going on.

Ok...appreciate the interest.

revised...

After some memory lag I recall now why the tire scrub on the rear got my attention. If you look at the rear wheel well on a 60 you'll notice there is a "body seam" approx center line with the tire....thats made into the wheel well, Well on my truck this edge of the body seam there in the well is apparently sharp to some degree and when we did a little testing (this was over a year ago or more) we noticed when the tire was up in the wheel well at the rear the tire would rub this sharp edge which was not good. I never got around to taking a punch or something and dulling the edge, and took the easy way out and put the wheel spacer back on, which moved the wheel and tire a little farther outward. I meant to go back and dull this edge but like many things its just something I forgot to do. I know this seam is on the driver's wheel well I assume it may also be on the passenger side...at the time of this msg I did not go look. This relates to the use of the FJ cruiser wheels and the large 35 tires. Yeah you are going to have some tire scrub off road with the larger tires on a 60...nothing serious in my view, as long as you are not dealing with sharp edges. I need to find a rather long punch or other tool and get in there and dull the edges....maybe even a grinder or something. I had forgotten about that until this question came up.

OK, sure you don't need any 2inch trailer hitch ball mounts ? Free is Free ,nothing crazy HD , but nothing wrong with them....if you need anything ...see pics farther up this thread. I think there is one HD ball mount and then a couple like you find at Uhaul or elsewhere that have two or three hitch balls. The HD trailer parts I have to get a few dollars for those, but the other 2inch ball mounts are free..etc. I'll pm my cell # to "coyote"
