^^ has a man-crush...

Just kidding around... I love this truck. I don't care if you were to never take it off-road, it just looks bad-ass!

What do you do for work? I need to do what you're doing...

Love the rims!
Do you happen to have the part numbers for those & caps? I think they're different from the FJ wheels we get here in AU...
No fitment issues or mods needed?

I love your build.

Thanks!

Thanks! It gets driven off road, but being in central Oklahoma is pretty limiting. It's either turning off the road and into a muddy clay ditch that a redneck has dug up in a mud truck, or tight trees and mud trails, or sandy rivers. I've learned my lessons from each, and spent plenty of time cleaning and buffing.

No fitment issues on the wheels. I did grind out the inside support? fins in the cap to get the caps to fit without rubbing.

Here's a page I found with info on the wheels and caps with Toyota part numbers. I am not sure if which number it is.

Installed new Osidetiger 4 hole injectors yesterday and made some progress on the swing out build. I also cleaned the underside.

Tore into the dash yesterday to start installing the remote turn on cable for my amps and plug the RCA cables into the head unit. Within the next day or so I will be tearing out most of the accessory wiring and redoing it in a much cleaner way that leads to the switch panel in the new console.

Amps I went with:

Kicker KX400.4 to power the four Kicker KS65s in the doors.

Kicker CX300.1 to power the Kicker 10CVT654 sub in the rear.

I'm still tuning the sound, but the door speakers are insanely better.

I am also putting in new Kicker KS40s in the dash, and I planned to install some 1" Kicker Ks tweeters, but after hearing it with the amps, I might completely skip out on those.

Here's where I am on the console. I have the hinge cut and ready to be installed, but I need to cut out the switch panel spot up top and weld on the bolt on spots for the inside dividing wall. Then I can bondo it up and paint it!

I also bought some cheap Chinese LEDs that I will be installing as rock lights. I taped off the LEDs on one strand and painted them black. Might use the other LEDs under the hood, and in the cargo area, but I'm not sure yet.

I saw your truck in CB today. Pulled over to take a look. You have a great looking rig, one of my favorites.

Thanks! Yeah I've been parked up there all day while riding.

Here's some iPhone pics from my trip so far

And here is where a semi passed me on a two lane road.

Cool, we were headed out to snodgrass for a ride when I passed your truck. Weather has been perfect this week for hitting the trails. Have a great trip!

I live in graham, tx we should get together some time and hit the trails in the cruisers and the bikes!

Awesome! I rode up from town today and rode Snodgrass and then Lupine back to town. I'll be heading to Telluride within the next couple via Last Dollar Road for more off roading and biking.

Forgot to post about the completed console. I just have to get a pad made up (this is one from a Tuffy bolted on sideways), cut out vents for the rear heater, install the 12v/dual USB/voltmeter, and put in a Wit's End console organizer.

The cb hanging is seriously amazing. I can adjust the squelch and volume while my arm is on the arm rest.

It's been pretty awesome for the 17 or so hours of driving I've done in the past several days. I can store all sorts of things inside and it's somewhat organized.

Edit: New stuff
Here's a better photo of the console.

This is the mess of wiring for accessories that had been added quickly by my dad and I over the past 10 to 15 years. It took me a day just to figure out what everything did and to label it all. Then I consolidated it down to just the load/supply wires. I also replaced the crappy dash speakers with some new Kicker KS40s.

Labeled them all. 1 power wire going in and 1 ground wire going out. Very clean install with the Blue Sea Contura rocker switch panel.

Accessory wiring after cleaning up random ground and power wires. The labeled wires ended up being lengthened and then placed into wiring loom protectors for their journey to the center console.

Prior to leaving for Colorado I had to finish my receiver support. I plan to add more supports that tie it into the frame rails on both sides, but this works great to combat the up and down movement of the bike rack.

I also used some plastic epoxy repair stuff to rebuild the steering column stuff that always ends up breaking.
image.webp

The KX400.4 amp powering the Ks65 speakers has really helped improve the sound quality. The CX300.1 had an issue with it so I had to send it back and have yet to install the replacement. I will be doing that when I remove the center console to finish it up.

And here's a few of my favorite photos from the last trip.

Filthy underneath for all those who think it's a pavement princess. I will be spending who knows how many hours underneath it with a power washer within the next week.

Finally got around to replacing the HF Badlands 12,000 pound winch in my bumper today. It's been sitting in the garage all summer. It was a total pain to get the bumper off with the welds we added to keep it on. Some spots took a lot of plasma cutting. I was hoping I would be able to raise the bumper up to fill in the gaps caused by the 1/2" body lift, but it was nearly maxed out when we put it on originally.
image.webp

Also did quite a bit of cleaning on the front end since the bumper was off. Then I hopefully fixed the driver's side fog light in the bumper. Then I cleaned out the air horns since oil from the compressor had entered them.

Dude, I LOVE your truck. Yours was the first 80 series build thread I ever read (before I even bought mine). I'll be building my version of your swingout system pretty soon.

Thanks! Let me know how it turns out if you don't do a thread on it!

What happened to the old Badlands winch? I don't remember reading about its demise.

Not really sure what exactly happened, but one day I was using it for some yard work and unspooled it about 15 feet. Went to pull in back in and nothing. Just a clicking sound. Opened the solonoid box and it looked brand new inside. All connections were good, it just wouldn't do anything. I ended up having to hook the cable onto another truck and have it pull the cable out. Since then I haven't had a cable in and you can see that in my posts if you look for it.
