Working on a gantry to lift the body off the trailer. I sheeted my ceiling in my shop so I don't have any rafters to use. The aa adapter gives a set of holes to clock the drop down. How much lift would you need in a vehicle to need to click right to the next set of holes?

I am at a standstill waiting for help assembling the gantry I made. Heavy and I need a tractor to lift it up for final assembly.

I tore down a set of 79 fj40 axles, and assembled the gantry.

Thanks skip! Progress has slowed. Needed a new master rebuild bearing kit for my rear diff, there was too much backlash. I have a ton of time in cleaning and sandblasting the axle parts. I have a friend from American axle doing my diff rebuild for me. I bought a powertrax no-slip locker for the rear. Sticking with the 3.7 ratio. I have the knuckles back together, waiting for some new long field birfs and and oil seal cover and an oil seal inner ring that did not come in my "complete" cruiser outfitters kit. I have the wheel bearings in and I am ready to Finnish putting it together. Need to get some new axle perches and a rear disc conversion.

Cool that you are sticking with the 3.7 ratio. A lot of work but end result will be worth it. Is this a 2015 completion goal or 1-5 year project?

Skip, I think 1.5 years from now for completion. Turns out one of my diffs spun a main bearing. I have another diff, so my friend is going thru that one now. My second coat on my wheels wrinkled, so I ended up having to blast all the paint off and start again. My rear shackle hangers were too far back for the Alcans provided with the truck. I cut them up and are moving them up to 45.5 " spacing. The springs had 55 written on them...ie fj55 which is that distance.
I am planning on modifying the existing harness. There is an ls swaps website that has some good info. It will be a pain for sure.

here is my spare.

Hey, that's my motto, three steps forward...

Shame about the redos. At least you'll know it's right and less problems down the road.

Definitely don't want to rush it, minor setbacks but still moving forward. My troopy is nearing complete, no where near the overhaul you are pursuing but none the less, mine is almost ready. I was asked for it to be on display at the outdoor recreation expo coming to Iowa which is today so taking the family on a drive and going to check it out....pretty cool...

Ok..gotta post mine, pretty excited to see it almost complete. Thought I would share..preparing her for run to moab...thanks to completeoffroad.com for making this happen.....

Skip, looks great. You have to be excited. This morning I remove some mounting points and pulled the front end.

Eating an elephant one bite at a time. 10 degree from very housing on the knuckle. 6 degrees from vert housing for the perch. Should give me 4 degrees of caster.

Thanks Derrick!

While you are cutting and grinding you can think about why you should have spent the extra money on poser's brackets!
