Funny, I thought I liked your 62 before the mods....

Nice build.

Its a 60 now right look at the lights :flipoff2: :D

Looks awesome Henry. Enjoy!!

Incredible. It's modest while being a hardcore wheeling rig. Excellent!

How is that 4BT on the highway? Sufficient power? How about wheeling?

Sorry, I got that one! :)

Oh yeah.. I was thinking of the one like on Josh's troopie if it was still out there. Then again I remember him telling me the story about how josh sent it to him from africa..

Wierd to see her green...

Congrats

Wow.. That is sweet looking. One nice setup for a 60. Looking forward to reading TT story too. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

So what kind of mileage you get from CO? You make it all the way to Austin on one tank?

Truck runs great, especially on the highway. Mileage was a wee bit under 24 MPG but I was hauling ass at 75-80 the whole way and had a significant fuel leak from one of the fuel line banjo fittings (enough to cover the whole back 1/3 of the truck with raw diesel....gag!). Two turns of the wrench and the leak was gone.

Fueled twice during the trip, in Lafayette, CO and then north of Oklahoma City. I have about 1/4 of that tank still in the truck. I still have to get used to the new tank so I don't let it go too low, when I fueled up in OK city it still had over 10 gallons in it.

what is your overall impression of the around town drive-ability? Are you getting used to the 2400RPM redline?

What about the noise... at a stoplight? on the freeway? under heavy load (like climbing a hill)? Did you add extra insulation?

Do you have EGT/boost guages?

I don't have a working tach, so I'm going by feel and being conservative. It's actually not difficult. Overall drivability is good, but the H55F's 1st and 2nd shifts are short, 1st is pretty much useless and I find myself starting off the line in 2nd most of the time. On the highway it's awesome, tons of power in 4th and 5th, it's weird to be able to accelerate from 4th to 5th going uphill!

Noise is OK under load and fine on the highway, but at idle, it's like being parked next to a dump truck! :) Forget going through a drive-thru. Bear in mind, I have no added insulation yet, a custom tranny hump plate that's just bare metal, and pretty crummy window and door seals. I think that a couple of layers of Dynamat on the firewall and one layer on the flloorboards, tranny hump and front doors ought to take care of the noise, and I have new door and window seals coming. Under load it's actually pretty smooth and there is very little engine vibration at speed.

No EGR or Boost gauges, I had some unforeseen expenses that finished up the allocated budget, it will take me some time to recoup.

Why did you decide to go with the H55F instead of the NV4500? The 4500 has higher gearing that I would think would be more easily suited to the diesel's short redline.

Just curious to see your train of thought.

My guess is that it why he went with 3.73 (stock) in the axles even with big 35's. I believe he had 4.10s previously. Sure is neat to see, can't wait to see it "henryized" aka all safari'd out... Very cool again, I dig the big ass tank as well...
