My guess is that it why he went with 3.73 (stock) in the axles even with big 35's. I believe he had 4.10s previously. Sure is neat to see, can't wait to see it "henryized" aka all safari'd out... Very cool again, I dig the big ass tank as well...

Also, the H55 was paid for already. One man can bleed cash only so much (unless his name in Grogan!)

H55F was in the truck already, so that saved me some cash. Wanted to run a Toybox, too, so that made it easy. Andre's right, went from 4.11 to 3.70 to help with the motor's low redline. Seems to work really well, although I think bigger tires might have been even better (but wrong for my application).

Why the headlight change?
I always figured the 62 lights offered a better chance to make wicked-bright highbeams.

Change to round headlights was purely cosmetical, although incidentally, upgrading TWO headlights is a hell of a lot of cheaper than upgrading FOUR.

Proffitt's did an awesome job with my truck, you just have to be patient because they're swamped with work. It was worth the wait, though!

Nick, are you kidding? 55K Cruiser pics at last count, still (slowly) sorting them into categories that make sense. Send them on, same email as always (though I only check it a couple of times a week)!

Henry did you already drive a 80 series with 1HD-T engine .. ? the 4BT I thought pull a lots more torque .. I just triying to imagine what awesome feels drive your TLC with the cummings engine .. : D

Just wanted to say your truck looks incredible and that conversion rocks. 24mpg in a brick shaped 4x4 is almost unbelievable! I assume it has a lot more pick up (accell) than the 3F it replaced?

I haven't gone through a couple of tanks yet, so I can't say what the city/highway combination is. I'm guessing roughly the same, about 24 MPG.

Pickup in 1st and 2nd gear is *not* any better than the original 3F, because the 4BT makes almost all of its torque at low RPMs. Where you can see a *huge* difference is in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear, it's got a lot more power than the original engine. It's still weird to be able to accelerate in 5th gear to pass an other car, going uphill!

I've had the truck for a month and so far so good, I haven't done a lot of the little projects I've planned for it because I've been swamped at work.

I got a little bit of *bling* for the Cruiser today, and I couldn't resist posting some pictures. During the overhaul, I decided to shave off the two rear emblems, since you couldn't see them anyway behind the swingout (the "4WD" one, and the "GX" one). When I got the truck back, it was missing the rear quarter emblems too, since they'd been riveted in and got buggered during removal.

This morning I broke out some spare emblems I had to clean them up, but the Cruiser still looked like it was missing something....I started thinking, then found the answer...a quick trip to the dealership, and here we are! :
