I know i am supposed to be working on the 40 but i made the mistake of going to Princess auto the other day and saw trailer fenders on for 19.00
So my simple job of replacing fenders on my trailer turned into a complete paint and lights and wiring etc. I did manage to strip and remove dents from Aqualu fenders and do some work on the aprons. I have some small cracks in the aluminum and i guess i will have to brown nose to Cam and bribe him with some of my finest Lucky Lager beer and a half used roll of duct tape to see if he can do some welding for me. Trailer looks great Vern. Same color scheme as mine (I redid my trailer last year).

If Cam doesn't have time for the aluminum welding, I have a friend at UVic (machinist) who is a talented welder. He's done all my aluminum welding over the years and is really good. I could probably talk him into fixing your fenders.

Tig....tig...tig.

There is a 4 day weekend coming up isn't there? (not that Vern knows what a weekend is anymore). We could do it then.

Lucky works for a simple MIG'ing but TIG welding requires Sleemans or Light House.

Oh really Lucky.....gonna have to bring a better game than that Vern:flush:

Just saw it the other day, Lucky is now premium priced...

Thanks Cam , the beer is in the mail

Good stuff Vern. Thanks for the beer. I had to cut and replace a couple sections because I couldn't get the undercoating cleaned out of the inside corners without removing the area all together. That is some bad a** undercoating.

I hope those fenders now last you another decade or so.

I am no longer just a bull shytter i am now a fabricator. Making up this piece for the gas tank well had so many angles and corners it hurt my head just thinking about it.

Starting on driver's side now and i am going to cut everything out rather than patch. I have the trans hump out to repair a rust hole by drivers foot area and i thought it would be a good time to replace the rear main that has been seeping for years. So some questions.
Can the trans drop out through the bottom
Do i have to remove the bell housing.
Do i drop or remove the oil pan.

1) yes, trans out bottom.
2) no, just remove inspection cover.
3) yes, oil pan, and rear main Bering (carefully).
4) remove clutch... If in doubt replace.

It occurs to me you've got a B series, and I've only done one on a 2F and a SBC.

IMGP1449.webp IMGP1447.webp IMGP1448.webp I finished the driver's side and then removed the checker plate on the rocker panels to find this mess. I was going to buy new panels from EBI but they are not in stock yet so i will make up new ones.
