I put insurance on it the other day and took it for a shake down cruise and it didn't shake and that's a good thing.
But- it did pull hard right and then an odd burning smell that turned out to be a seized caliper. Being the cheap bastard that I am I took it off to free it up and one of the 4 pistons wouldn't budge so off to Lordco because they had a caliper sitting on the shelf. An hour later I was screaming down the highway trying to get up to 80k,wind in my hair, bugs in my teeth, sucking in exhaust fumes that seem to come in when the top is off. One of these days I might actually finish this rig.

Congrats! Must be nice to have it back on the road! Got a picture of the complete truck?

I'm hoping to finish mine too. Problem is if you take too long, you have it start over on some things... It's been 25 years for mine. :D

Murphy's law--- It hasn't rained in a month so I take the tarp off and insure it and it rains 2 days out of 5. I had forgotten how when it rains the water pools on the bikini top and when you go around the first corner it all spills off down your left shoulder and on to the seat. Good thing I installed drain holes in my new floorboards.

Someone was asking me for the specs of the storage box in the rear tub.
It is 14 x 31 x 7 inches deep and I made it 8.5 inches tall then bent 1.5 inches at the top at a 90 so i could just drop the box in the hole I cut and wouldn't have to hold while welding. That also gave me a smooth surface for the weatherstrip on the checkerplate lid to seal to. The weatherstrip seals out all water and dust and I also installed a lock and latch for security. I cover it with a black rubberized carpet to hide it from the scumbags. I had to cut a small notch in the crossmember to fit but you could make the box smaller or make it not rectangular. I probably got the idea from Aqualu.

I remember a green 42 that had one of those....

With the summer almost gone and the rains coming I couldn't put this off any longer so I am re-installing the top. I installed 6 pieces of glass using the old string method then all locks, latches, weatherstrips etc. Something I learned last time I did this is when installing all the parts leave all the bolts loose til every one is in then tighten, don't ask me how I know this.
