Pondering what the split windshield would look like, but this doesn't really help.

All righty then. Clemson Cruiser put one on an early rig and everything fits perfect save the inside windshield latches. The bottom of the earlier windshield is thicker to accommodate the early big air vent. The split screen's lost real estate doesn't allow the clean use of the early taller latch.

What does the vehicle body side look like for the latch of a split screen windshield?

This is the green split screen windshield side. If I use Bonnie's latch the top triangular piece is a bit too tall for the windshield.

Bonnie's existing white 1962 ETA latches:

I think @whitey45 used an '81 era black knob arrangement. Not sure what that looks like.

For my ‘63 FJ45 I was going to have to make something to combine the 2 different bracket sides.

@HelloKitty65 be aware there are 2 versions of the Safari windshield. An early version and the later model version that I have.

OK. This thing has been on every FJ40 since 1968 and I didn't know it existed.

SOR says a cover was also used on non-US trucks without dash pads, but it's discontinued. :(

@FJ40 MATT had some and if I'm lucky maybe zero new holes will be needed.

Got one of Chase et al's (@red66toy's) plates (from Mark's design) to adapt a four speed transmission to column shift. Not having the originally numbered engine seems to free me a bit, and I do have a four speed transmission sitting around. Wish me luck, when I get around to it...

Seeing what a higher clearance four speed transmission tunnel looks like for the 4 on the tree idea.

Got some big holes to fill.

A little test fit. The wiring harness holes in the windshield and the body don't line up, but otherwise it works. Wiper motor holes are in the correct place for an early windshield

I hope that every departure from stock is reversible for a future purist owner. Good parts are hard to find.

So I spotted this potential source for some _ribbed floor boards_. Apparently they were recycled into a government contract, there are 6 sets of them, and they have been kept in a totally rust free environment for up to the last 57 years. Perhaps with some MUD ship specific help by a cruiserhead/aviation type who is headed that way (to the moon) again in little while? They may have suffered from a high fall but it would have been at 1/6th the earths gravity and they may have landed onto a powdery substrate ( or not).

Some might consider this piracy, but clearly these LEM parts have been abandoned and there is no LE or court jurisdiction to interfere with the lunar moral high ground of this salvage undertaking.

Getting closer on this and the soft doors. I'm going to miss the old stencils.

What holds the plexiglass window up? Just the friction of the felt? Not my pic.
