about to wire up my blower motor and am wondering if I need a relay between the switch and the motor on the high and low side to prevent burning up the switch.

stock 40? the "relay" is mounted on the blower housing
it's not a relay, I can't think of the correct term right now.

that's the resistor for low speed. Which actually pulls more amperage than high speed. But I'm curious if I need a relay to prevent burning up the switch

Most 40s are heading towards 40 years of age and the switches haven't burnt out with the current drain that blower startup creates. It will do no harm, but it isn't really needed.
thanks. Got it wired up. Works fine.
