Black Garnet Pearl... really that rare?

That’s a great color. I had to settle for the second best, Galactic Gray. Oh well.

For anyone that has this color.. I found on Amazon the vivid brand gloss black demon vinyl looks to be a very close match. Perhaps a touch darker.
Still need to apply it and see but just holding it up it really looks very close. Going to try it on my side mirrors that have faded.

Please send pics when you put it on. My spoiler and a door handle surround have clear coat that's started coming off.

Not even Easter yet….
I’m interested to know if this color option holds up well. Is it a single stage similar to black and white or does it have a clear coat that’s prone to peeling (like most Toyotas)

Mine came from Cali, the clear coat on the roof is pretty fried. Other than that she looks great.

I still have the 100. It's sat in the sun for past 15 years. The clear coat on the rear wing (black) and side mirrors are burned, but that's it. The once black plastic windshield cowl and the plastic insert in the rear bumper are toast. But otherwise, she looks good.

Out of the first four 2006-07 VVti Land Cruiser, I purchased within about 3 year window. Three were BGP: 07 171k miles (RedBaron), 06 52k (BlackKnight) & 07 60K NO AHC (Merlot). At first, I wasn't wide about the color. But BGP, soon became my favorite. I've not had the opportunity, to buy one in ~6 years now. The bad about the color, it shows the grayish primer through chips and etching more than most.

looks awesome, sporting the Bowfin ta boot!

Thanks! I should've mentioned the roof rack - the Bowfin was purchased because the plastic covers for the OE rack's feet crumbled away in the sun. Okay sure, I could've just replaced those six pieces of plastic, but what fun would that be?!

I've got the answer to the original question. Only 1 out of every 20 Land Cruisers produced in 2003 was Black Pearl Garnet. Same for the green color that year. Probably the same ratio for other model years. That's why you hardly ever see either of these colors. My paint has held up extraordinarily well, but Renegade (my Cruiser's name) has been exclusively garage kept...

Correction. Official paint color is Black Garnet Pearl (paint code 3Q2).

@Guz 1 out of 20 feels about right.

I don't drink wine. But this color really is like a fine wine. I swear it's getting better with age.

Now that I think about it... a "Bourbon Metallic" would look pretty sweet on a 100 ;-)

One of the best colors for sure. Before I bought my Galactic Gray LC, I looked at a Desert Bronze model, really nice and rare as well.

Where does this 1 in 20 knowledge come from?

When I was in the market for and LX or LC, back in 2017, I saw one for sale in Black Pearl Garnet. The dealer wanted crazy money for it and it had 100,000 miles. Luckily I ended up finding a one owner white LX with 46,000 mile for half the price a few months later.
