I did not run the engine without oil. Oil pressure was good when I ran it.
How was your coolant level ?
There is usually only two things that will seize a motor up without making a bunch of noise and locking up
Heat or lack of lubrication and lack of lube the engine should have sounded different loud valve train and possible knocking
I have only once had a motor heat sieze and it was in a boat
And it just shut off like it ran out of fuel or you shut ignition off
The starter would slightly move it but you couldn't turn it with a breaker bar
It turned out to be improper machining on the block that caused it
Fresh motor breaking it in luckily never even made it off the trailer

Any news?
I'm having a very similar situation right now on my 73 FJ55 and went down a super similar path diagnosing my locked up motor that died very quietly at near idle and is now locked up, but the engine moves smoothly a few fly wheel teeth with a pry barred in either direction. Was there any resolution? Reading this thread was like watching the Sopranos end!

Here's my mess for anyone not in the Pig Pen. Help! Also I'm far from a guru. First time LC owner. Not a serious wrench. Had her for a year and am learning every day. My thread will tell you pretty quickly where I'm at.

What happened???
