Thank you. It seems the regular Bilsteins are the same as the OEM ones, no?

I have on hand both rear Bilstein springs and rear spacer for OEM springs.

I plan to install Thanksgiving, and go with either.
What are you basing "the same as" on? I'll admit I don't know all the details on Billy's spring options but in general performance suspensions do run a stiffer spring. It's probably somewhere in this thread.. I'll have to do some digging.

  • Rear "normal" coils (both): B12 53-292018. Compression 177 lb/in. Lift height 1.75".

I thought OEM was same as above

Rob

If this pic is 5th perch up front, are you running factory UCA, or aftermarket?

I was thinking of doing 4th perch.
Hey Ryan,
Sorry, just saw this - I am running SPC Uppers - but according to Bilstein they are fine with stock OEM UCA's. There's a few question/answers somewhere about it. I decided to swap them anyway, just my preference.

Thanks, makes sense!

I an going to do the install Thanksgiving, so will grab the springs before then.

Look closely at OME 2721 or 2720. This will get you about 1-1.5” in the rear with progressive rate springs. Comfortable on the street, flexy on the trails and good for light loads/towing.

Yeah OEM spring rate is 170 lb/in IIRC. Pretty sure if you can find the OME spring rate PDF it will confirm that.

thank you. So bilstein is 7 lb/in more than OEM factory ones?
Seems that way. I think the difference is irrelevant.

Thanks!

Then I am going to likely see which spring raises rear less (oem with 30 mm spacer vs bilstein) - since I am getting no improvement from
bilstein
I've got a pair of 2720s NIB. If you decide to go that route we might be able to work something out. Shipping wouldn't be cheap but I want them out of the garage.

Thank you @staggrlee .

My Bilstein packages have all arrived. I plan to tackle it next weekend (after US TG holiday).

I am going with a 2 inch (perch 4). Though my neighbor has perch 5 and it looks amazing, I am sticking with stock UCA for now. Additionally I have 275/65/18 tires, and thus don't want the tires to look too small on a 3 inch lift.

Hopefully after a week, I can post some pics, and stop fussing nightly about rake, and perch, etc, and just enjoy the damn truck.

My head is also spinning like @colacola

Part numbers for rear springs?

TOMORROW IS INSTALL DAY.. yay

Parts I have :
4 bilstein shocks,
all 4 springs.
I have rear 30mm spacers
I have front OEM spacers.
STOCK UCA.

These are my options:

OPTION 1:
Bilsteins Front perch 4 (2.2 inch)
OEM Rear springs + 30mm spacer (1.1 inch rear)

OPTION 2:
Bilstein Front Perch 4 (2.2 inch)
Bilstein Rear Springs (1.75 inch)

OPTION 3: (this is the weird out of the box option)
Bilstein Front Perch 4 + OEM spacer (2.2 inch)+ OEM spacer
Bilstein Rear Springs (1.75inch)

OPTION 4: (most hesitant about this, as a perch 5+ stock UCA not sure how it will be)
Bilstein Front Perch 5 (2.6inch)
Bilstein Rear Springs (1.75 inch)

Anybody have any alignment specs they recommend? Driving to alignment after I finish install.

Thoughts, appreciated.

I am with Option 1 and pretty happy, .25" rake and comfortable ride (stock weight w 3rd row)
Warning on Option 3: My understanding is that it's risky to use a lift+ the OEM spacer, I dont know the technical reason but Im sure someone here can chime in...

Yup, you are the reason, I ordered the rear spacer, and made that Option 1.

@TeCKis300 is the reason for Option 2, as he recommended going with the full Bilstein setup.

I don't want the the factory rake (not sure how much that is), and if I can minimize that, I would be happy.

Thus Option 1,2,4 are the real options for now.

My truck does have 3rd row, and we do use it monthly.

I recommend:
-waiting about 500 miles before doing the alignment. Or ask the shop if you come back for a re-check. You will get noticeable settling. Find as many humps, bumps, and flexes as you can to break them in before alignment.
-staying away from 3
-1 or 2. They will be very similar but you can easily swap if you change your mind

Good luck.

Thank you. I can get alignment done at a later time, no problem at all.

if 1 or 2 will be similar, 2 should be the right one, given its all "one system?"

Reputable suspension companies will tune dampers to specific springs. This kit is designed to work with a stock rear suspension but most likely works best with a complete bilstein setup. Furthermore, springs do tend to settle over time, albeit a very long time, and refreshing your whole setup makes the most sense. From what I understand rear springs on the LC200 is about as easy as it comes due to KDSS.

You guys are the experts, and that makes sense.

So I will install the 4 Billy shocks and 4 Billy springs. Question is what Perch to put the front in, to have the least amount of rake, yet being functional.

Perch 5 at 2.6 vs Perch 4 at 2.2?
