Stream, I have the camp sites planned with some daytime adventures planned too. We can discuss as a group to see if everyone wants to do something else. Still looks like 6 or 7 rigs, PM me for my home address or we could just pick a spot to all meet. I'm thinking of taking HWY90 unless you think I10 is better.
Should I try to meet up with the group in the town of Marathon?

Vince

Vince, yes last time I went we met up at a little pizza place before entering the park. I will try and find the name of it and let you know

Sounds Good. Thanks.

The dates are February 19th -22nd. I have a couple of hikes planned. Wanted to get thoughts on group dinner cooks or everyone does their own?

Did not see any replies on the group dinner. I am good with either or we can take a small grill and bbq?

It looks like i'll be able to move my drill dates around so put me down as a yes for the trip.

My tiny longhorn bbq grill arrives tomorrow and I'm planning on taking it. I'm not sure how much we can put on it and how many it can feed so someone should bring theirs as well.

I got a "tool box grill" I was planning on bringing, Remember to PM me for my home address. I am close to a HEB thought we could stop by and grab supplies for the group dinners.

Rewording my CB this weekend and aiming my PIAA lights getting ready for the big trip, remember to pm me for my home address and meeting time, I want to make sure we get into came in time to set up before dark. Vince the pizza place is in Marithon thinking the meet up time of 3:30pm should work out OK

So, to be in Marathon by 3:30, we need to leave your place by about 9:30am or so?

Also, what is the expected departure time from there on Sunday?

I picked the 9:30 time so we would not need to rush to get there. Thought we might not have everyone show on time, we would depart around 10 stop atmy local HEB for supplies then hit the road going hwy90 (slower speeds) might find something interesting to stop at along the way which will still be fine for us getting to the meeting spot around 3:30. Sunday is open, thinking we could have a camp breakfast then maybe pick something to see in the park on our way out then hit the road. This way everyone should have a little daylight to unpack once we get back home.

Jeff

Do we know campsites locations yet? If so I want to put them in the GPS ahead of time.

I'm entertaining the idea of bringing my german shepherd along to save on dog sitting fees. since I've never been, I'm looking to y'all to enlighten me if that's a good or bad idea. Thanks.

I don't know how strict they are but they don't allow dogs in the backcountry or on hiking trails.

I understand you can't have generators in the park, is it because of noise? I would like to take a small (low db) one to power my cpap machine. If i don't use it, my wife claims that i sound louder than a cummins

Thanks Cimarron. That settles that argument.
Only the Rio Grande Village Campground have a generator area but past 8PM, I think, they have to be off. No generator use in the backcountry.

Still a bit far out to look at the weather but the 10 day forecast for the park looks good. High in the 70's low in the high 40's. We will miss the new moon by a day but the night sky will still be nice and dark for star gazing with the lack of light pollution out there.

Weather looks to be perfect for us. Looks to be in the low 70's during the day with sunshine and mid 40's at night.
