I was shocked when I did a search on this forum to see what good mods people are doing to their rig, and did not find a thread to summarize them.

Over in the 80 world we have this thread,

Best mod for under $100?

So, with that said, let me start a thread, but up the price for the 150 world.

So my first modification was to add the rear hitch to the rig. Bought it on Amazon for $55 Open box, that had a scratch, that I never found. Kurt 13043. The only issue is that it required cutting a little of the trim about a quarter inch at the bottom of the bumper. So instead, I cut some stainless steel plates quarter inch thick to shim it down. I had to use some longer bolts, that were scavenged from 80 series extraction towing points

Were you going to mainly use that hitch for accessories or small trailer? IE: Carrier, Bike Rack, small utility trailer, etc

I think that one has a max of 5k lbs.

Great point. For me, yes, I will not be towing any cars with this vehicle.

Here is cut and paste from @Virgilus11

The tow hitch that you posted is very similar to the OEM that Lexus sells here and is rated to 6500 lbs. If this is not what you need ?? you can purchase a Curt hitch that is rated to 5000 lbs.
The one from Curt (rated at 5000 lbs) is attached to the rear cross member only with four bolts. Same as a 4Runner.
The OEM (rated at 6500lbs) is getting attached to the side main frame also with four bolts on each side.

From the manufacturer...

The CURT class 3 trailer hitch is the most common type of trailer hitch installed on full-size pickup trucks and SUVs. It is also found on full-size cars, crossover SUVs, minivans and mid-size trucks. That is because the class 3 packs the punch of a heavyweight hitch while still staying light on its feet. This CURT class 3 hitch offers a gross trailer weight capacity of 5,000 lbs. and a comparable tongue weight capacity of 500 lbs.

So the difference is 5000lbs vs 6500. With a price difference of $55 to $257.99?? :rimshot:

And if we do that, then we could not post it here.....:smokin:

I noticed a few people talking about low cost but helpful mods for their GX460. Replacing the stock poorly made little foam filter in the Secondary Air Intake Pump, is in my opinion probably the best sub $20 mod you can do for your GX460. Key thing is replacing it BEFORE it falls apart and gets sucked into the pump, tossing a P2442 code.

Here is a full step by step write up on how to do it on the Metal-tech 4x4 blog with photos:

That rig is legit.

This is just shy of $300/shipped from Australia. I have one on order.

Rear Door Table - Toyota Prado 150

From vendor:
22lb rating - "We list the load rating as 10kg. The limitation on the loading is not to do with the cord that holds up the table. The cord 550Lb parachute cord and is rated to over 200kg per cord. The concern is with the plastic screws mounting into the door skin. You will find that 10kg is a fair bit of weight and would be enough to support a camp stove with pot and a couple of six packs."
Made from easy to clean 316 Stainless steel with an attractive brushed finish.
Rattle and noise free design with easy to use elastic catches.
Take approximately 30 minutes to install.
Does not obstruct access to door hatches.
Precision laser cut and folded. Made in Brisbane Australia."

that thing is sweet!!! but what i really want off that is that inside door release lever!!! where/ how do i that to work for the 460?

i always figured id have to tap into the motor with an aux switch, that looks sweet tho

I thought about it as well but unfortunately might be hard to do and expensive since you would likely need to source the whole Prado interior door panel as well as a bunch of other stuff. If you can find a foreign parts site to sell it shipping would be expensive as well. They seem to shy away from some of the larger parts to overseas sales.

EDIT: An interior switch tap and maybe another electric solenoid to activate the latch might be your best bet.

you the man 22, thanks for the input

ill work ok a switch see if i cant have a write up before summer starts

I just purchased this rear camera washer, I have not installed yet but it seems like an easy mod and if it works it'll definitely solve the issue i was having with the rear camera getting caked over!

Link to GX0R few members have already done this mod with success.

For $10 bucks, I really like these!
Amazon product ASIN B08BVVJCFQ
Especially if you're on the trail often and always airing down your tires and airing up again.
