The cheap 5 gallon water container I bought at bass pro shop got punctured and is now useless for my off road forays. Who has suggestions on a durable / tough 5 gallon water jug that has a built in spigot?

How 'leak proof' are those spigots? I've got a couple of Reliant 7 gallon jugs that have a spigot that screws into the cap (Reversable - so spigot is in the jug for traveling and out when you want to use the spigot) and both my jugs are leaking from that threading.
These look much nicer.
I have used the swiss army collapsible rubber bladders. Those are great. Very sturdy.
Also used a less substantial collapsible plastic cubic "bag" for road trips.
advantage of both is that they don't take any room when empty. That is nice! The former also can be used as a hot water shower if left in the sun.
a bit of Teflon tape will cure that

As many times as I've used that stuff, never even crossed my mind! Worth a try! Reliance 7-gal. Aqua-Tainer - Blue : Target
It does not have very thick material, and it holds 7 gallons, but what I like about it as that it is easier for me to pack, as it does not want to tip over. Works fine for me, and fits perfectly in the front floor board of the 40
These are the ones I have. I do like the way they pack and the amount of water they hold. Hopefully the teflon tape will solve the spigot threads leaking.
I have used those but the water tastes like rubberIs there anything you have done to get rid of that??

I think that would result in water that tasted like rubber spiked with chlorine.it's not that bad. I am not that particular about water, admittedly, though. Drank some nasty water in my youth... Then again, I use the bladders and containers mostly for other uses than drinking (washing, cooking, emergency reserve etc). I usually put frozen bottles of water in the cooler (previously) or fridge (currently, YEA!) that I use for drinking on short trips.
But I would guess that a few drops of chlorine in water and rinsing might help? (And, of course, I don't keep water in there between trips so it's pretty fresh when I use it).
