HOLY COW!

That looks GREAT!

You guys have put some SERIOUS elbow grease into that one!

Some soap and water, a bit of rubbing compound, and some wax do WONDERS!

You have done a GREAT job so far! Keep up the teamwork!

Yes now I can finally drive a cruiser to out get togethers

This is right up my alley. You guys are doing really well here. Everything looks really clean and I would say that you found a gem here.

The body appears to be really straight and the paint cleaned up very well. All of the work you've done on the engine and the surrounding bay really pops the eye. A well sorted Cruiser of this vintage does have quite a bit of value. Depending on your build sheet, I would say that is close to a $9000 rig all day.

It's great that you are doing it with your son. If I could give you some advice, I would say that you should make it all about how well he does, regardless of whether or not it really is perfect or not. I still have mixed feelings about working with my Dad on cars because he always wanted to make a point of what I was doing wrong rather than focus more on the time and getting it figured out together. 30 years later and I do everything myself. I don't ask for his input. Funny how long those burns last...

What's cool about this hobby is that it takes a resourceful person in order to make it something that really doesn't cost that much money. If you get hooked and buy right, you can almost always make even on these trucks. Playing golf is a one way street in terms of a hobby and money. This is something that can actually make money if you want it to or you can just enjoy the whole thing and chalk it up as part of raising a family that will be competent with whatever the world hands them.

I approve!!

Yes this is very hard for me and I am trying my best to let him learn from his own mistakes. I had a similar experience as you did with my Dad and it has also rubbed off on me. I'd rather just do it myself because I know it will be done the way I want it. I have given him some easier tasks and he has done well, but it is hard to just let go and let him do it on his own. Sometimes I can lose sight of that so thanks for bringing it up again as I know that is something I need to work on.. I am teaching him about cars and he is teaching me patience..

Looks great, now stop driven to the mall and go get dirty in some mud, :bounce: :steer: :flipoff2:
Oh we will.. I am gonna be driving it around town and what not to find and fix any other issues it may have you don't know about until you drive it for awhile. We are planning on a trip to Colorado with my Dad to do some 4wheelin where I grew up.. Beats anything you can do here in KS.

Wow! Fantastic work transforming that rig into something you both can be proud of.

We just brought our newborn son home a couple days ago in my 80. This project really strikes a chord with me.

Thank you for the inspiration! Hopefully, I'll be able to show my boy the joys, independence, and rewards of working on your own stuff.

Awesome and congrats.. Good thing you have your project before you had your Son.. It is much harder to buy toys when you have kids.. Thankfully this "toy" was given to us as a project..

WOW! Fantastic work! Do you have a list of everything you guys did?
Oh man we have done so much and I really did not keep a list of everything.. Should have that would have been a good idea ;>)

How did you handle the carpet? Clean it or new? If you cleaned it what did you use?

I picked up an entire interior from a 94 being parted out. All the old seats and carpet were thrown out. I did however remove all seat hardware and what not for spares. The old interior was so gross there was no way to clean out the mold smell.

Holy cow, that looks amazing. Great job!

You and your son need to come on out next Saturday (the 22nd) and hang out with the local club and our families!

Annual Meeting

Hope to see you there!
