Due to recent incidents involving a rock and my steering arm (the one that connects the two knuckles) ending with the end result of a vibration at 30-45 mph, im beefing my stock steering by using some DOM Steering tubing (.250") thick, and somehow fitting my tie rods to it. I know when we did hy-steer it came with some inserts you welded in... Where would i find said inserts?

Howdy! Why not just fine a piece of tube one size larger than your original one, and then just slip it over and weld it on? Leave space at the ends for the OEM TRE mounts to operate correctly. John

Ya, or the other option that I did once is to get a solid bar and slip it inside. No welding required. I think it was 1/2" solid bar, but it was a long time ago.

Meanwhile, start saving up for a real hi-steer upgrade. The stock push-pull steering SUCKS.

See, this is my DD/wheeler. Bad combo, I know.... Im only on 31's, and i cant go any larger until im out of school... its just not feasible, so the term 'sleeper' rig comes to mind...

Where the TRE threads into the original is exactly where i fudged up it, real good... And Im making two of these, one for a 40 with mini knuckles. Mine is free as long as his is done first kinda thing.

Well, keep in mind that one end is left-hand thread, so these can be kinda tough to make. I recommend you call my friend Bud at Budbuilt, see if he can just make you the threaded rod section. He's very flexible on building whatever you need. Super nice guy too!!

I bought one with FJ80 tie-rod ends from Marlin. Budbuilt also makes them. Both are great vendors to work with. Here's a photo of the one from Marlin which I painted with POR15 (chassis black topcoat). You can buy one Budbuilt powdercoated black which is what I would probably do if I had it to do over.
