when should the bj60 3b bearings be inspected?

I am going on 425kms. I think the compression is going a little lower. more effort to get over the bridge.

When should the lowers be inspected? Never had the pan off my truck before.

What do these shells normally cost?

Thanks

Inspected mine when I replaced the cam bearings at 510,000kms. Pulled a few caps off that was all.
I guess since each engine has a different history there is no way of knowing when it is best to check...But I was told by a landcruiser mechanic (he inspected mine) that at 500,000 they are usually in mint condition. When we looked at mine he said "that is what they look like new out of the box".

comes down to maintenance ...
if the history of the truck is good then you won't need to worry, best to check anyway.
if poor then you are lucky.

i have seen 3B bearings look like new at 500K and spun at 150K, there you go.

It's normally very unusual for a crank bearing to ruin a motor. The 1HD-T is almost unique in this aspect.
If you have anything other than a 1HD-T or turbocharged 1HZ the crank bearings aren't worth worrying about.

main or rod?
crank bearing refers to both...

Either.

I only know one person who had the bottom end chew out on their engine. Toyota 3L, thrust bearings collapsed and the crank ate the block with every clutch application.
It's the only 3L block I've ever heard of that didn't outlive the head.

seems shortly after the 2L/3L head is replaced the bottom end goes out.

I have seen a number of 3b engines with dead bottom ends but i do relate this to neglect by their owners, not so much the composition of the bearing material like the HDT engines ...

i have seen only one 2H bottom go and it was after some serious abuse and questionable maintence ...
