Sooooo I know this has been discussed ad nauseam, but I'm having a really hard time finding a non-nav GX. If I cave and buy one with nav and ML how terrible will it be? I know that the nav is going to be almost 10 years old and basically useless, but I use my phone anyway. If i want to stream music through the sound sysyem, that will work, correct? I wont hate my GX if it has the dreaded nav? Also the ML system can be converted from 6 ohm to 8 ohm and the speakers can be replaced? Whats the deal with the tape deck? Can i cram an Alpine in it and use that instead?


Also, I apologize for contributing on a similar thread because I now realize I had no idea what I was talking about. Thanks dudes!
 
If I didn't find a non nav gx I was planning on overlaying a new head unit and speakers and sticking the factory tape deck in the glove box like this guy did.

 
But with the stock HU with bluetooth (07+?), does that allow streaming?

Honestly not sure, my price range was going to be for a 05' or older.
 
@UTFJ @Hoosier Daddy thanks guys. I'll have to spend some time playing with the audio stuff on the next test drive
 
I just installed the USA spec BT45 in my 04. Streams fine in Bluetooth and has a aux port if you are a real audiophile.
The only downside I have found is that you have to dial out with Siri or your phones dial pad and the stereo does not automatically switch back to the radio when the call ends. Steering wheel controls even answer/decline calls and skip tracks in pandora as well as volume.

I caved in myself. I figure if I ever do really want to replace the factory ML system I will just work around it somehow. I did see a post somewhere, I have been unable to find it again and didn't bookmark it, where someone bought an adapter off of eBay and mounted it inside the cassette player. That is something I have been thinking about trying since I don't own cassettes and wouldn't mind adding the ability to stream via Bluetooth. The problem is that I can't find that post, and most of the interfaces I am finding online seem like they are much too large to be mounted in the same place.

It has been mentioned earlier, but to clarify a little further; 07 was when the 3.5mm aux jack was added. You don't have bluetooth streaming, but you can get a bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter (mine was $15) and use that for a similar effect.

The carfax was a mess. Three different accidents if I remember correctly. They have been trying to sell this for quite a while.
