Bandeirante Bandeirante tailgate question and request. (1 Viewer)

I bought a Bandy tailgate for my '81 FJ40 build from TLC in Van Nuys, CA.

But I'm curious how the Bandys tailgate latches were configured. Ive seen a picture (see below) of a '40 like mine who fabbed up some latches and looks pretty good, but Im still wondering how the latches on an original bandy worked.

Again, the pictures below are not mine, but one like it...

Anybody got any closeup pics or info the could share???

The toyota bandi tailgates used a cheesy hook on a chain....and it slid between a slot on the gate and one on the body...very bad rattleing.

the chains were on the outside of the rig...most bandi owners modify them to go inside ...or just dont run the chains.

i dont have a star to post a pic...but...i will have somebody i know do it

Tailgate Latches

So I finally sourced some latches from a stock 40 tailgate and plan on fabbing them to my Bandeirante tailgate.

I found the latches at www.cruiserparts.net

When I opened the box this is what I got...

should I be happy or upset?

the new one is a little sloppy, the used one is tight (probably a little rusty).

They will work Im sure, just odd that they are not both either NEW or both USED.

i talked to Jonathan a few years ago...he had none...and toyota brazil was not producing anymore.

he did mention that Marv had one he was not using....and may want to sell.
