I have a request. Since I don't have a back seat, to put in and check seat belt location. Could someone post a picture of the back seat, in relation to the seat belts.

Could I move the shoulder point to the C pillar? Same as I did with the front.

Thanks as always,

I can dig through my pics to see what I have. You know there is a location in the roof rail for rear 3-point belts, eh? Was it you that said those are only spot-welded in? Someone did and that got me thinking I need to look through my pictures from before the new headliner...

Pablo, Yes that's the mount that's spot welded. I wanted to move the mount to the pillar.

Chris, perfect shot. What do you guys think, would the mount work on the pillar and hold a kid in?

One problem with that is the seat belt manufacturer, as per install instructions, says not to let the belt touch the neck. In my case, think I will weld them in the pillar and keep researching for more knowledge. Can still move back to stock location. Safety first, but you don't want that belt digging into their neck, in an accident. Those stock mounts are so far back and too high, to be able to get the belt, down and across the chest.

Good discussion, we'll figure it out.

It’s identical in every way to the front mounting location, bolt thread, angle etc....

That's not how my 71 is. I guess later years they decided to make it right. My attempt at a bow anchor is on the left. The seat belt anchor has three spot welds on each side.

My opinion: Toyota wasn't real committed to a three point seat belt, yet and just put some attachment points anywhere. I don't think they gave it much thought. Way too far back. Look at Chris's earlier picture and you can see the front Ford seats have the belt right next to your head.

What's everybody think....

Hi Scapdaddy, on my 78 piggie, the anchor of the back seat belt is on C pillar, I will send you pics tonight when I go Home, with measurements.

This longer sash mount would be the hot ticket for us. I wish mine were like that.

That's what I was thinking for the rear. It'd be a head banger for a back seat passenger, if used for the front.

I realize this is far out in left field, but bear with.

The center belt is integrated into the seat back. That's what I'd like to do, somehow.

You'd think it'd be as safe as the typical lap belt only, common to earlier model vehicles, if not safer.

This is from the 80, that's pillar mounted, too, and doesn't appear to be that much behind the pigs.
