I wonder if you contacted LRA if they could recommend installers in your area that have good experience/reputation with their tanks? If not, most any decent shop should be able to install it, the instructions are pretty decent. Several DIYers on 'Mud have installed them in home garages, so it is definitely doable.

Did you try duggys garage? Houston area shop - never used them but have heard good things.
No I haven't just trying to plan ahead as I'm in McAllen and If could I would like to not have to drive. Might just look into the garage route and check w a buddy if he would feel comfortable helping.

It is a very straight forward install with their latest instructs which include pictures.

Would you say if can install replacement bumpers, wiring of lights, tranny, and suspension, a lra install should be doable?

Oh absolutely. I installed mine, by myself, in my driveway. Used a floor jack to push it up into place and hold it while I bolted it in. Use @TeCKis300 thread with his tips and modified instructions.
Just get familiar with the different hose sizes and locations, as some look similar size to others.

Easily within your abilities

And Christo (or whoever uses the SleeOffroad account) said as recently as last week that they don't install the 12.5 gallon LRA for various reasons (potential for callbacks for noises, rubbing, etc.)
Yes, this is what I read as well. Still looking for a local source that can do the install.

Yes, that was me. The 12.5 tank is popular because you do not need the tire removed (though it lowers is so much that I don't think it is viable for people doing any amoutn ofd off roading). So the total cost of the project is a lot less than the other tanks.

The issue is really the noises / contact as mentioned before that we have verified. It is difficult to explain to a customer if they would be ok with it, and can live with it.

LRA is not local.

Instead, call Georg Esterer at Valley Hybrids…or his business partner, Ward Harris at Cruiser Brothers. They are the LRA importers, and can definitely point you to shops doing installs.

Sorry, that is what I was trying to say. I seem to recall contacting them through their website with a us location, and speaking by phone with someone in the us.

I’ve been eyeing the 12.5. Could you elaborate on those issues?

side note - anyone know of a good LC shop in upstate SC?

Troll Hole Cruisers in Mauldin SC try them.

As I understood it, there can be some rubbing between the tank and the body that can make some noises. Eric Sarjeant’s team uses a neoprene rubber material to help isolate the tank some.

The neoprene rubber works very well. I had it installed after original 12.5 gallon install.

Greetings all. I'm in the process of installing a 40 gallon tank on my 16'. I was wondering if anyone can share some pictures of the transfer pump install location. It came with a bracket, but I'm unsure as to where would be the best spot to install it.

I installed the 40 on my 16, the pump I removed the inner fender on the rear passenger side. Then bolted it rear-ward of the wheel well.

Though you may want to think about using that other recommended pump, as the pump it came with sounds like woody-wood-pecker when running.
This is noise does have some good points like you know it's running, and the sound is different (much louder) when the aux tank has been drained empty.
I am using the pump it came with, and the noise I am ok with.
