Well if there was enough COMMITED interest in them I can make them. I have a tank and a MUCH better mountaing system with intergrated skid plate. Mounting would only require drilling 4 holes. 2 in the crossbar in front of the tank and 2 in the rear of the frame. with optional welding of the 4 nuts on the holes. but not required. The only tough part is finding that darn sending unit that works with the stock gauge.

Arthog

I am very interested, I would love to have a bigger cap. tank but was informed of the poor baffling on the MAF. At one point I spoke to MAF to see if they would ever make them agian, did'nt really get an answer but said they get lots of calls on these. Would it be possible to use the stock sending unit, with a longer rod as stated before?

Please keep us posted

I purchased a long range gas tank from Man-a-fre a few years back that was Australian-made, but I can't remember the name of the company. It looks quite similar to Pighead's pics, but I thought it was baffled...hmmm. It sits where the spare should be mounted and is lower than the frame rails which means I have dragged it across some gnarly stuff. Might have to lift the truck more than I initially wanted to. Aw shucks. I also thought it had a 49 gallon capacity. I wonder if this is really the same tank?

As for the sending unit, we cut the orig. rod and brazed on a new rod that had been supplied by the tank manufacturer to lengthen the orig. and allowed me to reuse the orig. sending unit. Has worked great so far.

Pic of the new tank without the rear bumper installed, then a side veiw with the frame rail/body mount. (Best pics I could find, for now)

Lucy,
Can you look a little harder to find the manufacturer of your tank? The ones from MAF were from an aussie co. MAF has told me that you can get on a waiting list in case any more come across the pond, but I doubt that they're (MAF) really pursuing it. Maybe if we can contact the manufacturer direct we can get something going.

BTW,

I PM'd Pighead and he's not in any hurry to give his up.

Arthog, sounds like there's 2-4 of us interested. How 'bout it?

And N2666s,
I haven't forgot about pics for you of the filler I have

Well, yes I have.

If you can wait till the week after next, I'll just send you the neck.

PM me if interested.

Im looking into it. The type of steel or maybe alum. gauntly cost as too one at a time. offering a heater to it for the diesel guys. and my liability of making gas tanks. not knowing a price yet. I would expect them to fall in line with other long range tanks $800-!1000. And by committed I mean pony up some money. Im still sitting on 50 shirts for SWINE-O-RAMA that had 35 people saying they were going to be there. 2 people showed. not even the person who organized the unevent bought a shirt. when it come down to it money talks, bullshirt drives a jeep. on the lighter side here are some pics of my tank and the mounting skid plate. If i do these skid plate comes with it.

My tank is below the frame rails also. But I put strips of 1" EVA foam between the skid plate and the tank. The skid plate and the mounting system are all welded together and bolt to the frame I have done the Rubicon with it and only had problems when it was stock. Still interested?
