Had one of those on our rig when we bought it. It was mounted on the driver's side, next to the tranny/transfer. Required running the exhaust outside of the frame rail. which brought the suck. Ours had a filler neck ran to the front fender.

Enjoyed having it, but the exhaust issue was a problem. Rusted out and haven't found another one.

Would REALLY like to find one of MAF's old long range tanks.

Let me know if you need/want the filler neck for the fender. Still haven't pulled it out. Too lazy to patch the hole.

Thanks for th einput:D how was it mounted?......was it with the long axis in line with the long axis of the truck?.....yep, interested in the filler neck....do you have any pix?.....trying to figure out where this thing goes:confused:?

Yeah,

Length wise with the truck. I'll post up some pic's this evening.

I have one of them. I love it, but it is not baffled and when I get down to 10 or so gallons and start a long climb or do allot of tight right hand turns I get starved for fuel. They are 53 gallons. with my 4BT I can drive from denver to San Diego on a tank of diesel. I have been thinking of making them again this time with baffles. If there was enough interest. My other problem was my sender went out and I can't find a replacement that worked with the stock gauge. MAF was no help. I was told the original ones were stopped being made because of a divorce. I bought a sender and gauge from JC W. Im switching to custom gauges anyway.
I also changed the way it mounted. They had 4 2' long bolts that went through the floor of the 55 and through tubes that were welded through the tank and had a skid plate on the bottom. the bolts held it tight against the 55 floor. I is a tight fit but it worked. I made it better.
You know allot of great Cruiser Ideas have ben lost because of divorces.

Do tell, do tell.

Do tell, do tell.

Well if there was enough COMMITED interest in them I can make them. I have a tank and a MUCH better mountaing system with intergrated skid plate. Mounting would only require drilling 4 holes. 2 in the crossbar in front of the tank and 2 in the rear of the frame. with optional welding of the 4 nuts on the holes. but not required. The only tough part is finding that darn sending unit that works with the stock gauge.

Got a possible cost?
How far down does yours hang?

interested, are you thinking about making the 53 Gal?; does it use the place where the spare goes?.one of the reasons I bought this small aux tank is that it does not replace the spare tire mount area........

Lou

yes it does replace the stock spare tire carier. but not the cool swing out carier that you really want:grinpimp: It does not hang down that far. But with the skid plate it will slide off the rocks. I will get some pics tomorrow and post them.

It's got a dent on the bottom, used to have a leak where the mounting hole met the bottom. I got that welded and the inside coated a "few" years ago...

What kind of shape is it in?
