As an update about alternate options, several guys in my local club have used a Mitsubishi e-fan and controller. It is said to mount easily with some DIY tabs to hold the shroud to the radiator.
Some other options out there.

I found some Depo fans on ebay (though har to come by).
Here's one I removed from an 80. Offers accepted.
Auxiliary cooling fan removed from 80 series that fits in front of the radiator on the passenger side. Fan includes wiring and relay. I've tested the fan with 12v and it works. I don't know how it was originally wired in the 80, whether by a thermal switch or in-cab switch, so I can't answer those questions.
