Friday plans

I am planning to catch the Friday 8:00 am ferry, so that puts me in Tsawwassen about 9:40 am, so I will miss you guys at Lickman if you are their at 10:00. Probably about 11:15 before I can get there. In any case see you at Lodestone. I will go through to Coalmount.

There is a 40% my AC might be working by then. I had to order a new pressure switch and expansion valve (from Toronto - no aftermarket) install it, pressure test the evaporator and recharge the friggin' system (again).

OK Glenn, look forward to seeing you in Lodestone.
I'm pretty sure we'll be at Lickman at 10:00 although I haven't heard back from Gary T nor talked to Barry & Chris lately.

Here are a few VHF repeater Frequancies for the area most of them I was able to contact last year from different parts of the trail.

Chilliwack area

VE7VCR 147.220+ t:88.5 IRLP #1503
VE7TMQ 147.525 simplex IRLP #1086

Hope area
VE7RVB 147.080+ t:110.9
VE7TYN 146.980- t:none Linked to VE7RVA

Penticton area
VE7NUT 145.350- t:none IRLP #1150
VE7RSO 147.340+ t:114.8 IRLP #1606

Kelowna area
VE7OGO 147.000+ t:88.5 IRLP #1491

and a link to more intierior repeaters http://www.norac.bc.ca/documents/okfrq.htm

VE7RVA (or VE7TYN by the toll booth)might be a good repeater to monitor since it can be used all the way from Vancouver to Loadstone.

So if I see these call signs in the memory, am I good to go? I'm bringing the manual and hoping to have some time with the rig.
Leaving tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday)

OK... 24V may be more efficient, but it sucks in 12V world. As usual, I'm not happy until I rewire an entire truck. I'm on my way. Yesterday I worked on the 12V side. I installed a 4008 RIGrunner (West Mountain Radio - RIGrunner Description) under the passenger seat. I also installed a FT-8800 radio, CB and amp, plus the custom 12V accessory plug trio into the dash. Oh ya, I also swapped the Clarion head unit into the HJ (from the BJ) and decided that I wanted it to "act" more like a traditional car stereo and turn off when I turned the key off, except I forgot to get a 24V relay for this job. So I used a 12V Hella, it lasted about 8 hours... then had a mechanical melt-down. This will also supply power for the hot water shower. And speaking of showers... mine is finally in :bounce: Removed it from the FJ yesterday and fabbed up the brackets today. I also worked on the 24V side today. Once again a RIGrunner went in, this time a 4005. This will be powering the 40 amp 24-12 convertor, the 24-12 30A battery charger, the PSU for the Mac Mini and the fridge. If there's a fire, I'm in trouble. Did I mention HOT water shower (assuming the 2H will get hot enough).
The cool weather should keep the bugs under control

Al definitely got that 2H plenty hot... once :D

Cool stuff, the rigrunner is a pretty nifty piece of gear. I wish I'd known you were going that route, I have the very nice ratcheting Powerpole crimper you'd have been welcome to borrow - assuming you didn't just get your own.
Your wagon sounds like it's coming along nicely! Feel free to finish up and build my 74 for me, 'cuz it's sure not getting done under my watch...

I can't remember if I have them in there by callsign or by IRLP node # Print it out and take it with you.

How big is that heat exchanger? just wondering where it would go in a 74.

Last year the bugs were bad on Granite Mtn but barely any at Wells Lake. Really in the past five years I've never seen the camp at Wells buggy.

Brought the 40 home last night. A couple minor things to do this week and we'll be heading up Friday afternoon or maybe Saturday morning.

I like doing the Whipsaw as a loop trip. I will probably be camping at Wells on Saturday night, then meet the group on Sunday on the trail or at Lodestone. Probably exit via the Coquihalla this year for a change.

Here's an idea/option for people bored of the same old Whipsaw weekend: how about detour up to Placer Lake for one night for a change of scenery?

I have a dentist appointment at 800 am friday , I will try to make it to LIckman by 1030am. It will just be Carolyn and Me this time.

what's the head count for kids on this run?
I'm guessing it will be a bit higher then normal

I'm bringing two
Ken may bring his 4 if he can make it
Bote may bring one
Laine M. is bringing one

Jeff S.

Laine is meeting at my place approx 9am Friday (with Craig)
Then we'll be picking up Ken and Bote on the way to Hope
anyone else want to meet at my place?

errmm gaaaaph
are you trying to scare me off again?

Hey Traci: I'm not bringing a kid this time! WE can share the campsite! You're not bringing that fleahound mut of yours, are you? :D

So for the Polish part of the club, the idea is to meet in Poco for 7am, from there likely meet the rest in Mission or Lickman by 8-9am and head out to the front of the Whipsaw trail. We want to make it to camp by about 6pm at Lodestone. I am looking at the maps and will have figured out a trail from there to some other places but I do not plan on coming back to Whipsaw after the first night (unless the trails dead end). I know Robert, Pawel, Marcin, Sopel (who needs to be back on Sunday) and I are interested in exploring further and relocating camp, but is anyone else going to join us? Craig? Drew? Greg?, I know you guys expressed some interest in doing some more exploration.

I am totally in to exploring, we will be sleeping in the cruiser , no set-up and teardown daily
